--- Who Believes In Voting Out Incumbents To Restore Democracy? ---
I have now reached a point where I am in favor of one-term politicians. Vote the incumbent out. Make it more expensive to OWN a politician. There are many fine professional politicians, and I hate it that it has come to the point where removing incumbeants is the best plan for recovering control so that "government by the people, for the people, of the people shall not perish from the earth." Government in America needs to be reminded that they are "deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."

These citations are of course not mine and come from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address in the first citation. The second quote is from the Declaration Of Independence. Good words which those governing once knew. I wonder how many in power today have actually ever read them?

Seems to me that it is VERY important to consider who you would be replacing the with......I have seen very, very few "new"candidates in this cycle who I would consider voting for......

Of course there should be term limits on Senators and congress members. Two terms max like the President.

If your senator or congressman has been in for more than two terms ... then VOTE THE BASTARDS OUT!!!

Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support!

I agree the current residents of the system protect themselves by bringing weak opponent in for the primaries. It has become a rigged game with the Democraps and Republicunts helping each other in a shelll game in which power is passed one to another, but real change is rarely enacted.

Democrats in power have become Democraps who forget the people who voted for them. The same has occured as Republicans forgot their people and becam Republicunts.

It does not fair any better with Independents as they eventually do the same and become Indepen-Dunce. One term is the only current way. Drive the cost up to OWN a politician. Average out the good and bad to reach a more tolerable level of governance.

Thanks for your opinion!

The interpretation of the Constitution has been corrupted by Judges. The straight meaning of words has been twisted by evil beings who lust for power by corruption of good and moral government and business. Jusges and Supreme Court is another subject. Let's leave this thread to the subject of politicians.

Yes, the incumbents need to be voted out but most citizens don't even bother to vote and the politicians know it. Most who do vote are followers who will vote as they are told to from all the negative political ads. If republicans take over, nothing much will change for us except more job losses, more financial crisis, more freedoms lost. Our country is lost. How do we get it back?

With over 500 national politicians, I am sure you can find more than a handful of worthy public servants, but far too many have become corrupted into someone who has a party affiliation but no longer fights for their Party's populace.

Two ways. My way, which uses the system to correct itself or others' way, which is Revolution as espoused in the "Declaration Of Independence." I prefer we peacefully fix our government while saving violence for the enemies of our country.

One term will not fix Washington.

We need to root out Evil, which lurks from one side of the political spectrum.

These wealthy power holders, who defy change and spares no expense at keeping the existing hard-line power structure.

The opportunity for power and control attract the social misfits. Find them and root them out.

Thanks for commenting!

The two main parties are just different sides of the same coin. Independents are the edge of the coin. All use distrust and fear of the others to foment separation and control.

What we must promote, to move forward and protect mankind, is uniting the people, finding common causes to build towards, examining differences for better ways to accomplish goals.

That is the problem...There should be NO professional politicians. I suggest term limits and benefits and pay comparable to the average benefits and pay of someone in the military. If the politicians are going to send the military to war, the least they can do is be compensated equally.

Re: --- Who Believes In Voting Out Incumbents To Restore Democracy? ---
None of these things matter until we eliminate corporate personhood. Because of the power wielded by huge corporations that can afford armies of lawyers, p.r. firms, and mountains of money to every wheel that needs greasing, they are unstoppable even to the point of joining the government in fascist rule. The 14th amendment has to be re-written to eliminate the possibility of corporations becoming citizens and there is NOBODY in DC who will ever attempt it because it will shut off the money spigots and make them persona non grata in the CORPORATE media. A corporation is like a fungus: it's only mission is to grow and become stronger. And we don't allow any fungus the power to run the country.

This came as a result of a corrupt Supreme Court in the 1880's doing a favor for their industrialist pals and now the 14th amendment gets used 10X more often for corporate rights than the rights of any actual human.

Voting anybody out or in is going to have nothing to do with the root of the problem that created the military industrial complex and two fascist major parties with the more fascist calling the less fascist by the name "socialist" when in fact both are what the Nazi's called the National Socialist Party.

However, if we vote more of the more fascist party in we can have some big events meant to cause fear and expect them to give away more of what used to be called the Bill of Rights.

There shouldn't be any such thing as "professional politicians" or "career politicians", only citizens who want to serve and do right by their country and their countrymen. Once you become a 'professional" and turn it into a career, the only ass you're looking out for is your own, and that is the WRONG mentality to have if you are supposed to be a representative of the people.
