so what you're saying is, the fed and the government aint the same thing? that they're two separate body of our country? don't our tax dollar pay for the FBI and the CIA? if our tax dollar pays for both the fed and the gov't then wtf?

"The Government" is PUBLIC entity.

"The Federal Reserve" (The Fed) is a PRIVATE FINANCIAL COMPANY!

....believe it or not.....and THAT is part of the problem...it's a corrupt FRONT for the bankers and elitists.

The Fed's big gamble: Here's what could go wrong

yorkie 3 minutes ago

this is just the beginning. Does the name Robert Mugabe mean anything to you? It should.[color=red] The United States is now instituting policies that Mugabe instituted in Zimbabwe. If you don't know what happened in Zimbabwe when Mugabe began monetizing debt, by all means do the the research yourself and find out exactly what occurred.

the Fed is a semi private central bank that illegally creates fiat currency that has no backing other than the coercive power of government. The Federal Reserve is also no more a Federal agency than Federal Express would be considered.

If you go to the Fed's own website, whether it be the Fed in Atlanta, New York, San Francisco or Dallas..it says right on its' monogram..Federal Reserve Bank Incorporated..established May 18, 1914. I don't know about you, but I don't know of any government agency that is incorporated.

The Fed is in place so the government can borrow an unlimited amount of money at any time to finance its reckless spending projects. Whether they be a war, social programs or bailouts like we witnessed in 2008. The government likes the fed because they can then spend far more than they take in from taxes on various programs that we can't afford as a country or on the expansion of the American Empire under the guise of spreading freedom and democracy around the globe. By being in place, we the people, then pay back for their reckless spending, thru the hidden tax of inflation. If you learn nothing else, understand that inflation is, in fact, a tax!

If the Fed did not exist. And the congress can end the fed at any time, they created it by passing the Federal Reserve Act in 1913. Then the government would have to "ask" the american people to pay for any project in the form of direct taxes. A certain amount per family per year. We also would no longer have to pay a semi private company interest in order to finance our own government.

I sincerely hope americans wake up and wake up soon. Unfortunately, time is running

Wake up? and do WHAT? in a democracy you have representatives that do your bidding "supposedly" and I can say right NOW that these idiots are as ineffective as the last idiots. Nothing will be done. Nothing CAN be done unless it is done by the government. That is reality.

Very good...!

And now, if I where you I'd find out who own's the Federal Reserve...? Just a clue, they don't live in the USA. Try Europe and another place...

Good luck!!

Here is what I don't understand:

What is to stop the FED from just continuously buying debt? I mean, it could do it indefinately so long as the velocity of money remained steady and interest rates remained near zero. You just buy up your own treasuries through third parties. You could, technically, do it forever if the truth was concealed so that others wouldn't catch on and make a rush for the exits.

So, again, what is to stop the Treasury and FED from just printing as needed and gobbling up the vast majority of it's own debt without ever stopping?

Re: FED To Buy $500 billion to $1 trillion in government debt
For those of you that have followed my financial writings on GLP since 2008 you have doubled your money in silver when I said go all in at 12 bucks an ounce. Of course it's not really doubling your money as much as the dollar losing that much value.

You see, a silver dollar in 1929 would buy you five gallons of gas, a loaf of bread, and a dozen eggs. Exactly the same as today as a silver dollar is worth about twenty something bucks.

So, investing in precious metals is not really investing at all as much as it is merely preserving your wealth. If your relatives would have saved you a silver dollar from 1929, you could still get 5 gallons of gas, a loaf of bread, and a dozen eggs with it's value today even if you pawned it.

Anyone reading my sometimes long winded financial comments on GLP knows that I have been hugely bullish on silver for 2 1/2 years now.

It's changing.

My new game is another white metal that is much rarer than silver and even gold and is also an investment grade US Government coin from the US Government Mint.

I still prefer investing in 1/10 ounce coins and they still are legal tender and investment grade.

The metal is call platinum. :)

Re: FED To Buy $500 billion to $1 trillion in government debt
germans, been there, done that, had a wall . . .. kraziez!

So, you are Crazy? What else is new. The FED deposits all US government interest payments into the US Treasury so we can use that money to pay the interst payment the next month and the month after that and so on ad infinitum.

That, podner, means the notes that those payments were made for are in actuality interest free. Think about it for a while and it may be that you brain will finally understand the concept.

Great investment, the Fed's are gonna make a small profit (interest) and the White House could use that profit to help pay for Public programs.

peace

You are sort of on track.

The FED takes the interest the the US Government pays on the bonds and notes and deposits it in the US Treasury. We are free next month to use it again to pay that month's interest.

Thus, you see, we really do not pay interest on the Bonds and Notes when the FED owns them. Best damn system in the world.

To make a diesel engine green, it requires platinum in it's catalytic converter. Palladium doesn't cut it.

Mine yields are down and demand for platinum is up. Prices are in a huge lull and I see 5 digit platinum within 5 years if not sooner.

the real figure is $900 bln when existing programs are taken into account and that's what they admit to. you know it will be a lot more.

in the first QE they did $10bln a week in bond purchases,, now we're going to see purchases of $27 bln a week. The dollar is screwed.

I like that scenario.

Unfortunately, we're all too collectively gutless to try it out. We rely on the reptilian money system to survive and it's a giant leap of faith to give it up.
