Anonymous Coward User ID: 1150197 ![]() 11/10/2010 01:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I took my 4 years-old laptop to a repair shop 4 times, until it was impossible to fix, then I left it there to be used for spare parts. During those years it got upgraded from pata to sata and dual-core cpu. Unfortunately the whole world's economy is built around consumerism, if everybody could get their gadgets easily fixed, the sales would go down sooner than later, and that might hurt. |

Unfortunately the whole world's economy is built around consumerism, if everybody could get their gadgets easily fixed, the sales would go down sooner than later, and that might hurt. Thats why its important to learn how fix these things ourselves.. Something worth $1000 yesterday is not worth nothing today just because of a broken $10 part.. ..and thats what they are telling us all because of the way the economy is structured.. Thats just crap.. this site can help us take matters into our own hands and do something about it. |

ShaneCMuir (OP) User ID: 1160681 ![]() 11/11/2010 12:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | you are a sweetie. repair is awesome stuff. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1010415The world is screwed up so fundamentally.. We produce more STUFF than can ever EVER be used. We are supposed to THROW AWAY these things now that have SMALL things wrong with them.. just to be good consumers.. and help the economy. The economy is a man made thing.. and it doesn't make sense. I LOVE the idea of being able to fix these things ourselves.. Perhaps we can STOP the OVER production that is occuring now by just being a tiny bit smarter.. iPods.. IPhones.. perhaps rather then buying into this continual re-buying of these technical bits and pieces,, perhaps we can fix them ourselves.. and give that whole notion of the consumer economy the middle finger.. |
