Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1154586At night use some bitter almonds on your salad before dinner and drink some more dandelion tea or papaya tea. Anyone who does this should prevent cancer, a good diet as well. This sounds about right, according to the little i know. Regarding the bitter almonds: Almonds are related to peaches. In a particular village in Russia, no one ever got cancer. They had a tradition of eating the seed inside the peach pit (which looks like a shriveled almond). It tastes bitter. You'll pucker. In America, I grew up being told it was poison. I read up. Sure enough, it is poison- but only to cancer cells. A component therein, poisonous, only becomes active when it encounters cancer cells. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 576059Good question. How can I make dandelion root tea from fresh dandelions? I'm thinking: harvest wash, boil, filter, drink. Perhaps there is a rule on the boiling? limited time or temp? Perhaps a tincture is best: soak in alcohol. Pray or be defeated. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1160192 Canada 11/11/2010 01:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Anyone want to give us a step by step process for making tea out of roots / weeds in general? Quoting: RaistyThe only tea I make comes from bags... but I can be adventurous! Roots- pick them at the right time of year, some you can just pick anytime like dandelion, but in general roots are more potent in the end of the season. Then they need to have the dirt and crud removed. I have either used a hose and scrub brush or just let them dry and scrub them clean when dry. From that point it depends on the root yin question as some need to be boiled for a while or in a specific way, some just need to be steeped. For dandelion coffee I roast them after I chop them into bean sized pieces to a nice shade of brown, but not too brown and then grind and use like regular coffee. For other plants like lemon balm or sage you just dry the plant pieces and store them till you need them in a dry, airtight container and put a portion in a tea ball and let steep to taste. |

Two days after a frost, with above 45 degree weather, and you will be fine... By the way, the Leaves decrease blood sugar levels in people, the roots have the opposite effect, they increase glucose levels. I know this because I used to take them to raise my super low blood sugar levels. |
andrew User ID: 1160400 Ukraine 11/11/2010 08:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How to Make Dandelion Root Extract Things You'll Need: Trowel or shovel Knife and cutting board or food processor Large cooking pot (either non-metal or stainless steel) Spring water Cheesecloth Vodka or vegetable glycerin Dark 2 oz. or larger glass bottle with lid 1 Choose the right location and time for collecting dandelion roots. The healing benefits of plant roots are strongest in the fall, after the flowers are gone but before the first frost. Many gardeners with an interest in herbal healing grow dandelions as part of an herb garden. If you have not already started cultivating dandelions, look for plants in healthy soil, avoiding roadside growth. 2 Collect the roots. Using a trowel or small shovel, dig up the roots of the plant, being careful not to sever them. Place the roots in a covered basket or paper bag. You will want at least 4 oz. of root material to make your extract. 3 Clean your plant material. Separate the roots from the rest of the plant, and remove any dirt, stones or insects. 4 Chop the roots into pieces of about 1/4 inch using either a knife and cutting board or a food processor. 5 Process the roots on a stove to extract all the water-soluble material. Place 4 oz. of dandelion roots in 2 qt. of water and bring to a boil. Let the pot simmer until you have reduced the liquid to about one quart, then strain through a cheesecloth. Reserve the liquid. Add the roots to 1 qt. of water and again bring to a boil and reduce to 1 pt. Again, strain and save the liquid. Discard the boiled roots. Combine the liquid saved from the two boilings and reheat. Cook this down to about 2 oz. You will need to allow several hours for this process. 6 Preserve the dandelion extract. After permitting the boiled down extract to cool, funnel it into a dark glass bottle with a lid or stopper. Add either vegetable glycerin or vodka as a preservative so the organic matter does not spoil. [link to www.ehow.com] How to Make Dandelion Root Extract - 2 Step 1 Dig up the roots of several dandelions, until you have 4 oz. of root. Collect the roots in the spring, as fresh roots still have the plants' stored food within. Step 2 Rinse and chop up the dandelion root into 1/4-inch pieces and put them into a pan with 2 qt. water and bring to a boil. Allow the water to boil down to 1 qt. Step 3 Strain the water through a cloth to drain the extra liquid, then put in the remaining quart of water. Save the fluid that was drained. Cover and boil again until the water is down to half a pint. Strain the water again, combining the strained liquids. Step 4 Pour the liquid into the pan and bring to a boil with the pan covered. Allow the liquid to boil for several hours until it is reduced to 2 oz.; allow the liquid to cool. Step 5 Add the vegetable glycerin to the cooled liquid and place the extract into a dark stopper bottle. The extract will remain fresh for a year. [link to www.gardenguides.com] |

Last year I did read, that there is nobody, who would make studies about Dandelions essences, and that is very regrettfull, because Dandalion would be surely a very healing plant. So I did decide, that, if I could, that I would like to make studies about. But, I have no money. Here, on GLP, there was a man, who did say, that if you would have some good project, that he would give you money, because he is a rich man. So, I asked him for some money for these studies about Dandalion, but he did not answer me till now. But if there are some good studies about Dandalion now, I am happy! |
