Moscow, November 15 (QNA) - Two Russian ISS crewmen will go on a spacewalk on Monday to mount a universal working station for the research equipment on the service module Zvezda. "ISS-25 flight engineers Fyodor Yurchikhin and Oleg Skripochka are to open the hatches of the module Pirs and to go on a spacewalk at 5.30 p.m. Moscow time," spokesman for the Mission Control Center Valery Lyndin told Itar-Tass. The ISS crewmen will go on a spacewalk in the computerized spacesuits Orlan-MK with the LCD screen, on which some hints are given to the spaceman what system and in what sequence should be checked before the spacewalk and what to do in an emergency situation. The ISS-20 crewmen were the first to test these fifth generation spacesuits on the orbit in June 2009. ISS crew commander Gennady Padalka and NASA astronaut Michael Barratt have made two spacewalks in new spacesuits Orlan then with an interval just in five days. This will be the first spacewalk for Skripochka. Yurchikhin already went on three spacewalks in the previous ISS mission and on one more spacewalk with Mikhail Korniyenko last July. The ISS crewmembers remaining aboard the station, namely Russian Alexander Kaleri and NASA astronauts Shannon Walker, Douglas Wheelock, Scott Kelly will safeguard the spacewalkers from the station. The major mission of the spacewalk is to mount on the service module Zvezda a universal working station for the research equipment for Russian and European experiments. A forthcoming spacewalk is expected to last five hours and 55 minutes, Lyndin noted. (QNA) M A
