I'm still going thru withdrawal after a month. Went cold turkey. It may be part of the withdrawal symptoms but my blood pressure just now was 170 over 105. Earlier today it was 160 over 102. These numbers are not unusual for me since I started monitoring 2 weeks ago. Quoting: Ohio DudeSo, what's the secret to lowering my BP? Chamomile tea? Cannabis? No more pills for me. Sad to say but he will probably not be around much longer. |

Beer is fine, just don't overdo it. I drink about 6 oz (half a bottle) a day. Sugar is ok, too - in small amounts. Reality is, when you start exercising and drinking your water, your body will regulate the rest of the stuff. - e.g., you won't want the things that are not good for you. |

High blood pressure runs in my family and I have been on meds for over 20 years. I am not overweight, eat healthy and exercise. I still have to take meds. You probably should go back to the Dr. or at least call and tell them what your numbers are just to be on the safe side. They seem high too me. |

But I will try the rest of the ideas, especially exercise. While on lexapro you have no gumption, you can't exercise or finish projects, but my BP was a steady 120/75. It's not worth it of course. Now I'm doing a dozen projects at the same time. First goal is to go from 210 pounds down to 180. 180 is perfect for my body frame and heigth. And seriously, the best BP temporary lowering activity is playing with my dogs on the floor. Sometimes puppies are the best medicine. |

Try a banana with every meal and a glass of orange juice in the morning. Supplementing with calcium is not reccommendable on a standard western diet. We get more than enough from the dairy we eat. What we usually lack is magnesium. Get Magnesium Citrate or Magnesium Malate. WARNING @ Potassium. Its no coincidence that potassium supplements come in such small capsules. If you take large dosages of potassium and end up with an imbalance, you can end up DYING from a heart attack. I am not kidding. Do some research before you start supplementing with larger amounts of potassium. I'm being serious. Bananas contain lots of potassium. You cannot 'overdose' on the potassium you get through bananas (or any other fruit/vegetable). And before people start yelling "Shill Alert", do your own research on potassium supplementation. And @ Calcium, if you are getting enough from your diet already, you will only further imbalance your magnesium levels by supplementing with calcium. Plus you might clog your arteries even more with all that calcium. Get some vitamin D3. Its cheap and is needed for calcium uptake + loads of other good things. |
