Face Book is a government data mining operation known as TIA. Total Information Awareness.. The government backs facebook because it has accomplished what the government openly could not accomplish..

The difference is people on Face Book post all of their personal information and create a profile of themselves.. Likes/Dislikes, online shopping habits, who your friends are , where they live, who they associate with, and the list goes on and on..This was the goal of TIA however, it was unattainable until Face Book came along..

I have a facebook account. It allows me to sign into other sites and sync my avatar and a few other things.

My present avatar is holiday candles, the one prior to that was a big Jack O'lantern eating a smaller pumpkin (Pumpkin cannibalism, gotta love it).

My photo album has a pictures of my dogs and cats. the last thing I posted several weeks ago was a 'complaint' about Farmville stealing my rainbow eggs because of the Halloween candy.

I also play the FarmVille game. All in all I have averaged 1 hour 12 minutes a day on Facebook. In contrast I spend nearly 2 hours a day (on average) here at GLP.

Yeah sure there are SOME who post everything about themselves, but to say that Everyone is narcissistic is a bit of an over statement.

I'm an incredible narcissist, but I don't have a Facebook account.

I deleted mine a few weeks ago. It seems its only a certain amount of people actually posting on it. I think its running its course. Obsolete in 5 years.

The few people I know who are certified narcissists have facebook pages where the crickets are chirping - very little activity at all, very few friends (50 or less). One doesn't even have a photo on his profile.

Somehow Facebook has turned everyone I used to know into their own publicist. Everyone is making an awards speech out of cooking dinner for friends... It's very fake. Granted I seem to know a fair few self employed and entertainment types who would be lost without it, but if I hear any more self-promotion I am going to be sick.

"Not everything you do everyday needs to be related to people you don't remember anyway, like it's a press release..." is what I'd love to post as my status update, but maybe I'm worried about offending those who are obviously addicted and unaware of how they come across.

I appreciate gratitude expressed on mass.. I see that as the only benefit, but alot of it seems fake and the result of people trying to outdo each other....

Had a facebook account for 3 weeks, every washed up chick who got fat and married(then divorced) some tool from school tried to add me to their friend list and a bunch of douchebags who wanted to MLM me with some crap but could otherwise care if I existed for the last 15 years.


129 "friends" in 3 weeks and the only ones I would ever really to care to hear from already have my phone number and email.

AssBook is like the lamest "stuck in highschool" derpy bullshit ever invented.

God damn it, they finally got me. They know all about my 20 minute commuet in the morning and my weakness for krispy kreme doughnuts....damn them!!

FB isnt going to just "run its course". Its going to morph into something ...even more dynamic and real time.

1st graders will never lose touch with each other. They will all have their own profiles from the start. Their entire lives will be documented.........

Its just like anything else. Guns, cars....danger exist, but the benefits are overwhelming....

And the problem with that too is when i first joined about a year ago...I added everyone. After 6 months or so i was like "Shutup, I don't hardly know you."

I erased all old contacts from school (Not my close friends) and just kept the folks I still associated with. But these freaks don't let it go. Some friended me again w/ "What happened?" lol.

That's been the big benefit for me. My dad was in the service and we moved every few years. I found friends from 7th grade I haven't seen in 40 years - one from the 3rd grade! It wouldn't have happened without facebook.
