My sister once told something which I feel is very plausible ...
Something related to colours, that colours are different for different people... For example, what is yellow, looks what it looks like to me, but it looks red (my red) to someone else, but which that person calls yellow.. similarly what is green for me is green for everybody, that is, all of us call it green, but everybody sees a different colour.... what do u think ?

Nope. Our eyes (and brains) are similarily constructed which means what we see should basically be the same.

A more interesting question (no offense) is what the world really looks like? A dog sees the world without color. A fly sees it in a different way. We see it as we do.

Who is right? No one or every one. What the world really looks like (if there is such a thing) is impossible to know.

You mean that..how can we know that we really are seeing the same color? We can't, but read my previous post. It clarifies things a bit.

Do we see and experience the actual world, or only a very, very, good reproduction, or virtual, world?

Hmmmmmmm, right, so we are probably the same then, but what if.... how cool would it be to see through the eyes of other beings.. alien03 ... to experience their other senses too..

you fellas are not too bright hey? It's easy to test whether we are seeing the same color - even a 6th grader could tell you the experiment construct that would easily test this.

Re: My sister once told something which I feel is very plausible ...
It is not possible to see a colour Yellow as green from another persons point of view. Because our brains are similar in construction and the wave lenght of Yellow will be the one every rain recieves.
However it is possible to see a different SHADE of yellow depending on the person.
We all see Yellow as Yellow but each person will see it in their own personal shade according to slight veration in brain structure.

That is why we all see exactly the same person standing in front of us but out interpertation of that person will be somewhat different.
What we will not see (as you are trying to say)is a dog as a human or a stone as a camel.

Well kids were also taught by someone that brown is brown ... What is brown to me, is brown to you too, but maybe we both have different types of eyes, i see x and i call it brown, you see y and you call it brown, someone else sees z, calls it brown, and so on................ x, y, z are constants for each individual......

But all who are not color blind identify the colors the same even if my yellow is seen by you as red to me. We both agree it's a "Universal" yellow.

The only thing for a normal human is subjective emotional feeling and memories triggerd by the colour will be slightly different. However because the brain and eyes are the same instruments what you notice as blue is still the same wavelength and noticed as blue by another normal human.

cool never thought of it that way .. could be ..... and there could be one reference yellow then, and all others which we all see would revolve around that, plus or minus something percent ....

Hi OP,

I always differ from my daughter and mother about what is green and what is blue. I see them the opposite as they do, it's kind of weird, so whenever we talk about a specific color, we have to be very detailed about it so we know we´re talking about the same hue or shade... :)

Yeah, I had that thought as a kid. Here's another couple:

What if every person has his own personal time? Maybe a minute in my life is a few picoseconds to someone else, and someone else would experience those picoseconds as billions of years. However, since we interact with each other and experience it according to our own rate, no one notices.

What if the sun is the only star in existence, and our solar system is surrounded by wormholes in closed space loops? Slight variations within each wormhole give the illusion of differing size and light spectra for each "star," but each one is really a distorted image of our own sun?

Yeah, I had an active imagination as a child.

The only time I've noticed what op speaks of was when I ordered bathmats and towels online from Target.

My idea of 'greystone' was completely different from theirs.

let's just pretend for a second that your sister's stupid idea was true. who gives a fuck? and why does this matter?
by the way, it's also not true. aside from color blind people, most people perceive color equally.
