It's true. I have an insulin pump as well and have asked other pump-people what their experiences have been with the new procedures. Some people get lucky and get waved through the regular metal detectors, which are easy enough to get through if you hide your pump (in your bra, in a discreet pocket). But there is no way anyone will put their pump through the naked body scanner; you're right... not worth the risk. Some people disconnect and send it through the x ray, but who in their right mind would be okay with doing that...

I would opt out anyway for other reasons. I would rather be felt up than be exposed to the unknown health risks of the naked body scanners, and I don't want my image going into some database. Regardless of that, as a direct result of my "disability" (I do not see diabetes as a disability, but it legally is) I will be sexually molested in front of my husband and all of my belongings will be searched for explosive material.

After this upcoming flight I have to take I will not be flying anymore.

This is the idiot underbelly of political correctness.

The conspiracy theorist side of my brain is beginning to think that they are keeping records on who is "disabled." Hopefully they are too stupid to be organized enough to do something like that.
