"Other" major catastrophes??? So where were they when the tsunami hit?

Jupiter protects us from asteroids at the van allen belt and the sun from all other debris due to its incredible gravitational pull, earth itself has its own protective atmosphere that burns off anything that the sun and jupitor have missed ie tiny meteor peices.

Ozone depletion hasnt really changed so what actually have they done?

How do they know this for certain, a meteor that "possibly" would wreak havoc. The same effect would come from an old sattelite or other space debris.
