I would like to add a really helpful book I read to help my understanding of men and vice versa...Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus....

My ex and I would read a chapter every night...I would read a chapter, and highlight things I wanted him to especially look into and he would do the same and we would switch. It did help.

I know one of my problems - as in something I needed to stop - was when we would be arguing about something and when he would try to drop the subject I would keep going and going and going, I felt I was not heard at all.....well, thats considered nagging to some people, really I would like to believe he did care about what I was saying, but I should have dropped it and let him go to his "mancave" when he was upset....and brought it up again another time when we both had some air.

This is one example of something I learned in this book...another thing is appreciation...it goes a long way, (when its not fake of course)...you're stroking their ego of course which is fine, but I think it makes them feel fulfilled as a man/breadwinner/hero extraoridaire. It does something primally good.

Women also deserve appreciation, it IS a two way street. Taking care of a home and kids and meals isn't a walk in the park...coming up behind your wife slaving in the kitchen and telling her how sexy it is or how you appreciate it also goes a long way...

Can you see a great FRIENDSHIP in this? Trying to understand the way EACHOTHER tick instead of bashing?


"Taking care of a home and kids and meals" is a pleasure not a choir. Doing something for your family is an expression of your love or your feelings toward your family, and if you truly love your family then you would even do it without the need for "reciprocation" or "appreciation."


Oh geez....I guess maybe I need to get into one taking care of themselves as well...

those are not jobs. your thinking is flawed. your purpose in life is to have a family--something that made you alive, made your life worth living.

now, i understand you when you say that some men are lame. look at lions, for example. (actually, when i need inspiration, i watch lion videos on youtube). lionesses go hunt and kill, but lions come and take it away with a fight. they surrender with respect understanding the simplest truth of life that without a male they are nothing because they suffer the most when they are lonely.


Ok...shall we call it a roll then, in a man/woman with a family situation? It is still work.

My dogs and kids keep me pretty un-lonely.
