UN Climate Talks in Cancun. We will pay for your poor Country to go green. WTF?
Delegates were feeling pressure to produce at least a modest agreement from the two-week U.N. meeting to restore credibility to the talks after the last summit in Copenhagen failed to agree on any binding action to rein in emissions of global-warming gases.

"We cannot leave Cancun empty-handed," warned Connie Hedegaard, the European Union's top climate official.

The conference seeks decisions on establishing a "green fund" to help poorer nations rein in greenhouse gases and to adapt their economies and infrastructure to a changing climate; an agreement making it easier for developing nations to obtain patented green technology from advanced nations; and pinning down more elements of a system for compensating developing countries for protecting their forests.

New negotiating documents put on the table over the weekend were generally well received, despite criticisms of flaws and omissions.

"These texts cover all the elements for a balanced package, and that is good," said Hedegaard. "We have a basis to work from this week."

But she said negotiators need to nail down ways to ensure that countries meet their emissions pledges. Actions by both industrial and developing countries must be monitored so that "they deliver on their promises," she said. "We must be able to verify that it is actually being done."

in other words ... countries that have outdated energy plants, like coal or oil.. we will build them new green ones with carbon tax money. This is redistribution of wealth on a world level. Who is most invested in alternate green energy sources? They are the one pulling the strings on the world stage.

There will be a rush of industrialized nations "buying" carbon credits from developing nations..Yes a huge transfer of wealth.

The "science" used to further this agenda is fascinating..Much like "the Earth is flat" must have been fascinating to Galileo et al...

I just posted in this thread: Thread: Just had to listen to my liberal teacher rant about Global Warming (Page 3) and started reading here.

Enjoy.

A little back ground on me so as not to let people think that I'm not just a young snot nose 18 year old. At 47, and retired, I am back in school getting another degree. I had to take a science class a while back. I was assigned to do a presentation on Global warming. Written report, power-point to the class and all.

Without going to the climate-gate scam (I knew that the professor was expecting my report to go that way because I had already made it clear that I felt that the whole thing was bunk, and he was prepared to rip me in class. I've seen the pattern before where the left-wing, progressively liberal professors like to throw out their garbage using deceptive information.

I just pointed out the facts and let the factual information speak for it's self.

My power point showed that the Kyoto protocol notes that: Countries agreed to reduce their collective greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2% from the 1990 level

Most will not recognize that this time frame was used in-order to get eastern Europe in the game. Point being, those countries were under Russia control at the time. USSR fell apart the next year, thus there was no way that those counties would be effected by the protocols because they were already well under the 5.2% from the 1990 levels. Understand? The power-point shows relationship better than just writing it here.

Next, the Montreal protocols:

designed to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production of a number of substances believed to be responsible for ozone depletion

This, I admit was harder to debunk , but I did direct everybody to this: [link to www.noaanews.noaa.gov] ...

The size of the ozone depletion region shows an increase in its total size from last year, further indicating that the relatively smaller hole of 2002 was mostly a quirk of meteorological conditions over Antarctica. The difference is directly attributed to year-to-year temperature variations across the Antarctic continent, not an increase in the amount of ozone-depleting compounds in the atmosphere. (Montreal Protocols

New Study Shows Climate Change Largely Irreversible January 26, 2009

At this point, I was actually getting a little nervous being up there (not being shy, I was an instructor in the Navy, so I have talked in front of people before) because I looked over at the instructor and I could see that he was visible annoyed with the way that my presentation was going.

I then presented this:

Oil-for-Food scandal In December 2004, reports surfaced that the Secretary-General's son Kojo Annan received payments from the Swiss company Cotecna Inspection SA, which won a lucrative contract under the UN Oil-for-Food Program. Kofi Annan called for an investigation into this matter.

The key to understanding the above is who did the investigation.

The Independent Inquiry Committee into The United Nations Oil-for-Food Program was appointed by Annan and led by Paul Volcker The committee found insufficient evidence to indict Kofi Annan on any illegal actions

So, who is Volcker?

He was the fed chairman under Carter and Regan. AND: Chairman of the Economic Recovery Advisory Board under President Barack Obama

Need I say much about him being with the FED and apart of Obama's recovery effort? Do you see this????

I then presented this: Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) operates North America’s only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide.

Wait for it, here it comes:

Maurice Strong is on the board of directors of the Chicago Climate Exchange that is a former Secretary General of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (the much hyped Rio Earth Summit) and Under-Secretary General of the United Nations in the days of an Oil-for-Food beleaguered Kofi Annan

At this point, incase anyone in the class did not understand what was going on, I pointed out this little known fact:

Barack Obama helped fund the carbon trading exchange several years ago that will likely play a critical role in the cap-and-trade carbon reduction program he is now trying to push through Congress as president.”

I finished up my power-point talking about CAP and TRADE and the deception being forced down everybody.

Read and actually understand what is being fed to you, most of this dealing with global climate change is full of shit and most will line up to eat it.

NOTE, I am not debunking climate change, it's a fact and it has happened many times before in world history. Anyone ever make the connection to the French Revolution and Climate influences??? The French Revolution is a quick and simple observation, there's many, many more historical documentation that prove there has been global changes that have effected the quality of life for humans, not that humans have effected the climate.

God, wake up people!

I am glad there are older and wiser people going back to school- what you said was likely felt by the younger students to afraid to speak up and you helped educated the professor no doubt.

'helping poor countries to go green' really means
"we're gonna cut theyr population by 90%"

They continue shoving the bullshit down our throats regardless. The advancing global cooling which will be felt in earnest next year will be their undoing as Europe and the USA become mired in energy deficits and biting cold along with the austerity cuts.

Re: UN Climate Talks in Cancun. We will pay for your poor Country to go green. WTF?
How about we attach a birth control section to it all. They only get the money if they provide free tubal ligations and vasectomies to those who already have 2 or more children?

That would do more to reduce the carbon dioxide their overpopulated countries breathe out as well as impact the abject poverty such overpopulation creates.

Say what you will about China, but if they hadn't enforced their one child law, their population would likely be 3 billion today and most of them never having enough to eat. That does not excuse the way they treat those who want democratic reforms. However, it is a country that experienced many famines in its history right through the 1950's when millions died of starvation....something they have never forgotten and few outside of China even know about much less understand.

India is another example of a country that is pulling itself out of poverty and has, for decades, encouraged vasectomies and tubal ligations which are very cheap to get there. Now, the growing middle class there is not having 8 kids as a matter of choice because they see the benfits of smaller families.

The USA does not need to be a part of yet another international program that will see our hard-earned tax dollars gobbled up by every corrupt official in those countries and every corrupt administrator in this crowd.

Thanks Fixed it..

They are praying for guidance now... Are these nuts for real?

With United Nations climate negotiators facing an uphill battle to advance their goal of reducing emissions linked to global warming, it’s no surprise that the woman steering the talks appealed to a Mayan goddess Monday.

Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, invoked the ancient jaguar goddess Ixchel in her opening statement to delegates gathered in Cancun, Mexico, noting that Ixchel was not only goddess of the moon, but also “the goddess of reason, creativity and weaving. May she inspire you — because today, you are gathered in Cancun to weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools [well, that and somebody elses money - ed].”
