So Astro,Whats the beef with the Extra Solar Jovian+ Planet thats been in the headlines? This one? [ link to www.msnbc.msn.com] Basically there are two schools of thought on how gas giants are born, and neither one can fully explain this solar system at face value, which would seem to indicate there's some truth to both. Scientists are currently pursuing a hypothesis that the system's larger than usual dust disc dragged the planets in such a way that only one method of formation is needed to explain all 4 planets. There must be so many huge collisions in the early years of a Solar System,Could not Two Really REALLY huge Gas Giants Collide and turn into four? abit like the Earth/Moon thing but with larger masses.
