Why Do They Allow Babies in Movie Theaters?

I kind of agree. Or at least have either:

A. One showing a day that does not allow babies.


B. One showing a day where people can bring a baby.


But I have been to maybe four movies in the last 8 years.

That's what I love about Alamo Draft House Cinema, no children allowed except during special shows.

Exactly and even worse are selfish parents who take babies and toddlers on planes..The children hate the pressure on their ears and they just wail or kick your seat..I have in the past openly confronted parents on planes and threatened to smack kids who kick my seat..This does not go down well..If you have kids dont fly its that simple. Do not inflict your crappy noisy smelly offspring onto other full price paying adults. Get a bus boat or train..Thankyou!

If you can't afford a babysitter to go to the movies, don't go at all. I will report you to management, get a free ticket to see another showing and have you removed, banned from the theater. No problem for me clearing out the trailer trash.

I went to a professional football game recently - in a very large, noisy, dirty stadium and some couple sitting behind me had their newborn with them! Poor kid was screaming because all the noise was hurting it's little ears. Selfish fucks should have been arrested for child abuse

And yet it still is less annoying than 3D or any Adam Sandler film.

And restaurants!

I took my girlfriend out to a restaurant the other day and there were 5 screaming babies. Ruined the damn meal.

People can just order takeout and not subject anyone else to the nonstop noise.

And yeah movies theaters are even worse. I've actually seen people have their phones go off during a movie and they answer them and start talking! And it's always some annoying ass rap ringtone too.

Shit... I've even been in a lecture once in class and someones phone went off and they started talking on it loudly in the middle of class.

Damn sheeple.

This is so annoying when trying to watch a good movie that you paid good money to see!

To be honest, they should put all babies in a blender at movie theaters.

One day people like you will be tossed into a grinding machine without a thought no different than a rodent.

Back when theatre's weren't mutiplex's they had crying rooms in the back. Walled off little enclaves for people with little kids. Such a simple solution, so much for progress.

I agree that a movie theater is no place for a baby or even a toddler for that matter. It is rude of parents to subject paying patrons to the probable interruption caused by the baby or toddler.

I have seen young children misbehave in restaurants too. If the child acts up one parent should remove the child from the vicinity immediately and most do in my experience.

I have never taken my 2 year old to a movie theater he does not have the attention span to sit for that long, he would be miserable and those around him would be as well.

He does behave in restaurants but I have had to remove him once when he was overtired.

Kids will be kids and babies will be babies, parents should take action if the kids are interrupting and ruining a dining or movie experience.

damn right! back in the day (60s/70s & 80s) when you were on the first leg (london to singapore) of a 30 hour monster flight to sydney you would leave london at 1800 so you had time on board to eat dinner, smoke a cigar maybe get a handjob from the trolley dolly then watch a movie and drink whiskey. after dinner the stewardesses would visit any couples (because there were no single parents in the good ol days) with babies who were being annoying or were likely to be annyoing and suggest to them to prevent displeasuring us fare paying adults with rights, that they dip their finger in a bottle of brandy or sherry or whatever the hell us men hadnt already finished at that point and let the baby lick just a drop of pure liquor from mommys finger. knocked the little shits out for 9 hours cold! We could then wake up in Singapore, get some fresh fried egg noodles for breakfast, buy the cheap prescription meds (Demerol & temezapam chasers anyone?) they had there in the terminal and be on our way to sunny sydney.

I go to the earliest show possible on Sunday morning. Never a baby to be heard. In fact, there's usually about 5 people total.

Biggest pet peeve of mine!

Went to a horror movie once, and this couple walks in with a 4 & 5yr old!
First WHO brings kids that age to horror movies!

The kids were dressed in PAJAMAS!

I assume the parents thought the kids would sleep through the movie then they'd carry them home and into bed....?

Well of course they didn't sleep, instead they ran up and down the aisles playing in the rows and giggling.

I finally had enough and said, "SIT DOWN!"
They didn't, figures that the parents couldn't contain them they sure the hell were not gonna listen to a complete stranger.

I agree, if you cannot afford a sitter, you don't need to go to the movies.

I never took my kids to the movies until they were 6 and those were Disney type children movies.

That is our favorite movie day/time.

We call it the "Sinners Show" since no one there is at church--ALWAYS the most respectful audience.

I think this is why DVD and BluRay sales are up. People want to enjoy a movie in the comfort and quiet of thier own homes nowadays.

This is why a female dominated society sucks. No one gets beat anymore. These weak people wandering around knowing they an do almost anything short of actual violence and NOTHING will happen to them. It's a PC problem. Allow fighting again.

Imagine a husband and wife wanting to go to the movies and the wife says "lets take junior" and the husband says "fuck no, I don't want to get punched in the face again."

We certainly pay enough for the movies to have them supply a nursery. No babies for sure.

I am surprised the theater would let them in, they should not be allowed to take such young children to a horror movie. Good example of bad parenting.

funny you mention the rap ringtones.. since ghetto culture types are the most obnoxious in the theater.. they think they are all that and can do anything they want, they think they are alphas.. they have no civility or respect for people.

Aside from that are people bringing kids to movies.. all part of that not wanting to settle down thing... have kids and bring them to clubs and other events partying as though you were in college. Irresponsible.

I think this general guideline should clear things up for everyone:

It's fine to bring your small children with you anywhere - as long as they are well behaved. But if your little ray of sunshine starts screaming his lungs out, it is only common courtesy to CARRY THE GODDAMN SQUEALER OUT OF THE GODDAMN BUILDING BEFORE SOMEONE HAS TO COME AND FEED IT TO YOU, YOU INCONSIDERATE FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT BREEDING SHIT!
