Drunken, But Hopefully Comprehendable Rant:
Hey. Welcome. I'm Matt. I am a local member here at GLP forums, though I used to be an Anonamous Coward. I love it here! I get to hear everything about about everything. I see every fucking opinion and idea and theory and possibility (most importantly)that is circling our collective media, evolutionary (If you are privy too it), cultural, national, regional, and our own personal unconsciousness.
GLP is great. I am on here everyday. I read a lot of very well written things about very complex issues. I also read a lot of bullshit by really unhinged people that think to fast...whether they be crazy, over excited, or oblivious to grammar. Maybe they don't care. Who knows? That is beside the point.
GLP has a lot of information on this site. That is my main point. My second point is that we all have to realize that there IS a lot of information floating around, and much of it is
BULLSHIT.
I'm not saying that people don't have the right to express their opinions. Opinions are beautiful!
Your opinion, however fucked, twisted, biased, false or asinine,it is, is the MOST important thing. Really. Opinions make the world go round. You are a human. USE that brain! Your ideas are the only real currency in this world. Your thought are the MOST REAL, most verifiable thing in all the existence we know.
Now what is existence really? Being a journalism major and, I dunno, a "weird guy", I think it is our thoughts. I don't give a shit what you call your self, you HAVE to agree that the only thing real in this life is what goes on in your head. Those are your thoughts. As a thinking being, you have a natural right to those thoughts. You have a right to sound those thoughts. You have a right to BE HEARD. Human beings could not have survived if they hadn't let go and told someone what they were thinking, be it about love, fucking eating utensils, or how to maintain order and sanity. The fuck would you be if you didn't have fucking thoughts? The fuck would any of us be without without unique individuals giving their piers their way of thinking, their view of reality.
The individual, the identity of a culture and entire scientific and religious thinkings are all based on something as simple as an electrical impulse that couldn't even raise a hair on your forearm. That is how powerful expression is. Which brings be to Wikileaks.
Love them or hate them, you are probably being exposed to what they have to say, whether you are downloading their information to your computer, or you are hearing it from a news source. You can't escape any idea today really, at least in a well developed country. Even the third world has here say.
I hope I am emphasizing enough how important a single, made open to the public, thought is.Also, look at this BOLDED,COLORED, AND CAPITALIZED sentence. You looked right at it, didn't you? That is because the bold letters, the colors, and the size of the font stand out greatly amongst a general majority of standard text.
Do you see where I'm going? Your sources of media, or information, which is the most important thing in your life, can be used against you.
When Obama was elected, Fox News had a single ticker that said "Obama To Swear In On Koran?" Question mark. The mere adage of a question mark voids all vetting of a source, because it denotes an opinion. Because of this, a news source can raise their opinion as well, putting thought into your head, and VOILA! you got a group of people thinking Obama is a Muslim. Sources of information, because of our carelessness and complacency, have become the creators of news, and not the messengers.
People, you have to realize that just because someone is the loudest, that it doesn't mean they are right all the time. Look at what you read, ask who is befitting from reading and disseminating that information, and form your opinion. I can't stress this enough.
Don't be taken advantage of!To the 5% of the people on here that read this, I give my thanks. To the 5% of that group that decided to say something in return, I sincerely hope you enjoyed this steaming pile of bullshit. You didn't have to read it.
And here is a GIF to make this more noticable.
