I´m on their mailing list, and have been for a number of months now, and this is a book (due out 08/05) & a movie (I think that Angelina Jolie is cast in one of the roles), I´m NOT a debunker....

This was discussed years ago, I think it was during Clinton´s term, when the news about a huge magnetic anomaly on the edge of Lake Vostok was released. Around the same time there was speculation about a nuclear accident at McMurdo Station and a potential contamination of Lake Vostok and a frightening possibility of some deadly virus being released.

There was a doctor who was the cheif scientist at McMurdo that had to be evacuated. The images of Vostok that revealed the magnetic anomaly were really interesting. Satellite photos l;ooked terraced ground and buildings under the ice. It was a really interesting find that was totally hushed up and removed from the public airwaves. Another one

I would also like to see some follow-up on the underwater city off Cuba that was suppossed to have been featured on a National Geographic program three years ago. It kind of dropped off the map also.


There are certain things that should not be allowed to be classified for reasons of National Security. Archaeology is one of them.

That´s a fictional site... I wondered if they might be the source...

They seem to be involved in making the government´s actions in Antarctica deniable as misinterpreted bits from this fictional website.

Their press releases are always based on real stories and timed to look like the source of real information.

They´re either one of the cleverest disinfo operations I´ve ever seen or just a damned nuisance.

They sprang up just as all the weird stuff started happening around Lake Vostok.

The other weird thing was the evacuation, when the plane took the new director in she brought a few people with her that they refused to identify and I think 11 people were evacuated for medical reasons. It was later said that they had been in a fight and were leaving because they were angry and couldn´t get along for the forced confinement of winter. No one believed that story, even someone posting on a forum from McMurdo said it was bullshit but refused to say what was really happening. He said they were all told not to say anything... it was a several month long frustrating cryptic bunch of concealed info. Your tax dollars at work.

They were taken to New Zealand and hospitalized. Efforts by reporters to interview them were sabatoged and within a day or two all the evacuees had disappeared. The hospital claimed it had no idea where they went.

I think any structure built from the US can be ruled out. What could possibly have an effect on the surface, buried two miles under ice.

The original post refers to a request by Congress for the satellite photo. Would anybody have a link to that request or an article concerning it?

Yes that´s the one... the other weird thing was the timing. There´s a ´window´ in which they can still make flights into McMurdo but outside of which it´s suppossedly impossible. This happened two months outside the window. At the same time there was a cargo ship that left San Diego bound for McMurdo with 350 containers on it. No information about the ship or its cargo was released in spite of the existence of the ship and its destination being confirmed. Something was important enough to risk dozens of lives.

The satellite photos I saw of Vostok were fascinating. In the photos it was the upper left area of the lake that had the anomally. I´m not sure what direction that would be down there. I´d love to see what new data they´ve found. This was one of those stories that became horribly frustrating.

Hiding scientific discovery is just plain wrong.

no... never heard of that one...

The anomally is a geological area which shows a huge spike in magnetic energy which is not explainable by any reasonable sounding means. The only good explanation the scientists could come up with was a massive amount of artificial structures under the ice. I believe the stuff I was reading said the ice was a million years old there. I like the theory that the ice formed around 10,000 BC but who knows, Charles Hapgood´s Piri Reis map shows Antarctica with no ice. The best guess is the map was based on an ancient source but how ancient could it be? Something significant seems to have happened around 10,500 BC. That date is encoded in the Sphinx (and the entire Giza Plateau) and the temple at Angkor Wat and a few other places.

There is a very good case for a civilization that was wiped out completely having been here around that time. With what we know today of geological upheavals and catastrophism, it´s not that hard to believe we could have missed the evidence of a previous advanced civilization. The ice on Antarctica could be hiding evidence that will change our thoughts about our origins...

Time has been one of the most complicated and less studied scientific issues since ancient times

Eight years ago, American and British scientists who conducted investigations in Antarctica made a sensational discovery. US physicist Mariann McLein told the researchers noticed some spinning gray fog in the sky over the pole on January 27 which they believed to be just ordinary sandstorm. However, the gray fog did not change the form and did not move in the course of time. The researchers decided to investigate the phenomenon and launched a weather balloon with equipment capable to register the wind speed, the temperature and the air moisture. But the weather balloon soared upwards and immediately disappeared.

In a little while, the researchers brought the weather balloon back to the ground with the help of a rope attached to it before. They were extremely surprised to see that a chronometer set in the weather balloon displayed the date of January 27, 1965, the same day 30 years ago. The experiment was repeated several times after the researchers found out the equipment was in good repair. But each time the watch was back it displayed the past time. The phenomenon was called "the time gate" and was reported to the White House.

I remember reading that the Russians were drilling for several years through the ice over top of Lake Vostok and came within about a hundred feet and stopped for fear of either destroying the pristine condition of the lake with contaminants from above or vice versa, releasing foreign bacteria to the outside world from beneath the ice. Weird science fiction stuff. They must know something the rest of us don´t.
