Lake Michigan poisoned!!!

They don't say what pollutants killed the fish.

The article does not mention what the pollutants are or if they even know what the pollutants are.

that oil spill was along the kalamazoo river and was contained prior to entering lake michigan. so they say.

Well this article from April 2010 says a town wants to buy water from Lake Michigan because their water is contaminated by radium.

Maybe after the oil spill they changed their minds.

After this fish kill I am sure they would change their minds.

I find it odd that there is no mention of what pollutants or even tests of some nature to determine what pollutants.

Michigan City Indiana is where they dumped a bunch of ol transformers in the lake back when. I forget the name of it maybe PCB's something like that. I'd bet that was it anyway.

Isn't it amazing that transformers can be dumped into a body of water??

Just think how much evil shit has been dumped into Lake Michigan in the last 200 years.

my grandfather was the head chemist at eagle ottawa leather in the 40's and 50's, and i know it was routine to dump mercury, cadiums,lead and other heavy metals straight into the river, which was 1/2 mile from lake michigan.
the soccer field the kids play on now was the town dump for decades, it to is filled with all kinds of nasty stuff, also right next to lake michigan.
the great lakes are also filled with asbestos and pcb's. a long time standing order is for pregnant women to avoid eating fish from the lake.
the great lakes are the third largest source of freshwater in the world, my avatar is from the beach on lake michigan, it is a huge part of my life. at some point people will die fighting for it, and then die drinking it

Back when I was a kid my aunt and uncle had a fishing camp

on Lake of the Woods in Canada. In the early sixties you

could drink right out of the lake but by 1969 it had been

screwed up with laundry detergent and other shit in the

lake.

there are very few lakes that aren't cannibalized by people building homes along them these days. They are good with pollution control these days especially in WI but with people living along the lake shit happens. They fill up with algae, but many like it because it feeds the fish, though it makes the water smell and unpleasant to swim in.

Most lakes out here are horribly filled with algae because of farm chemicals that get in them.. some are worse then others, but they all have good fishing. Not many swim in them.

Unrelated to Michigan but this has always surprised me.

Beautiful homes on a lake surrounding a Nuclear facility.

Big fish from the warm water, and yes people eat them.
