Anonymous Coward User ID: 947863 United States 12/18/2010 09:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Like so many of you out there, my unemployment ran out recently. Unfortunately, my health has also taken a downturn this last few months and now I am honestly a little afraid that I will lose everything. My wife is also on unemployment, she has one more extension that just started. I am hoping I can find a low impact job that doesn't require much physical effort, but I imagine most of those jobs are already taken. I've looked and can't find much. I am considering doing some jewelry sales at the flea market on Saturdays, but that is dangerous because of the chance of theft. Quoting: Follower of YHWHSo what do you guys suggest? I can only work about 20 hours a week due to health problems and cannot lift anything due to a herniated disc in my neck (C6-C7). I want to be productive and make a living and not be a burden to society, but I feel my options are limited. My skills are mainly sales and computer repair (minor, not networking). I feel for all of you out there in a similar situation. This is the hardest its ever been in our lifetimes. That doesn't mean we roll over and give up, though. I'm open to your ideas and suggestions... Call your state rehabilitation office and tell them you you have a disability and want employment. They'll find the job for you and buy any needed adaptive equipment you may need on the job. |

EI is the most damaging system to society you can ever create. It conditions people to not work, don't move, and become completely disengaged from society. I think the MILITARY should run EI, and Welfare - Want benefits, go to Boot Camp. Come out super fit with life skills.. It would create an army of skilled and useful tradesmen for the world for little more than its initial cost... My recommendation is to start walking and bicycling as much as you can now start getting in shape as best as you can. Employers want to hire active people.... Become one. |
