They should have a dont ask dont tell policy for everything but your loyalty to this nation.

That is the only thing that matters. Whether you love your Republic, her culture and her people.

Anything else shouldn't even be an issue.

But what about freedom of speech? Soldiers aren't allowed to ask each other things? They aren't allowed to tell each other things? This would be a typical conversation under your scheme:

Soldier 1; I LOVE USA!!! I AM LOYAL TO USA!!!!

Soldier 2; ME TOO!!! USA! USA! USA!!!

Soldier 3; Yeah I also am loyal to the Republic, her culture, and her people!!! WOOOOO!!!

Soldier 4; So, how about the Superbowl? Who do you think will win?

Soldiers 1, 2, & 3; lala DON'T ASK DON'T TELL!!! WE AREN'T ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT HOW LOYAL WE ARE TO USA!!!! WHICH WE ARE *VERY* LOYAL TO, IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING!!!

Soldier 4; You guys don't like football?

Soldier 1; You just don't get it do ya PUNK!!!! DON'T ASK DON'T TELL, EXCEPT ABOUT LOYALTY TO USA!!! NO YOU CAN'T ASK US ABOUT FOOTBALL YOU RACIST!!!11

In regards to joining the service.
Of course people are going to have conversations and personal conversations have nothing to do with the service and their requirements for joining.
