Americans have been whining for years about what they think are high prices for gas, while we have always paid double what they do.
It's a good thing we only have potato guns to play around with, lol

So nothings changed then ...

Prices are "lower" in the US simply because we don't have as many taxes on it. Almost half of what you guys pay for are taxes (which is why when the prices went up in 2008 they nearly doubled here, but not over there). To be fair for those taxes on your petrol you also receive great public transportation systems and true universal health care. Here in America some states are facing a 30 cent per gallon tax in the new year, as well as tons of other taxes, a shabby - at best- public transportation system and a "Healthcare for all system" which will not only drastically increase our premiums to insurance companies but will also see us taxed more to cover insurance for those who don't pay any taxes (roughly 40% of our population).

And even with the tripling of higher education costs in the UK A 4 year degree over there would barely cover a year here at a mediocre college. Not to mention that while paying your way through college you're also being taxed to pay for free college for anyone in that 40% group that wishes to go to college as well.

1.40 GBP per liter
3.785 liters = 1 gallon
1 GBP = 1.556 USD

1.4 X 3.785 = 5.299 GBP per gallon

5.299 X 1.556 = 8.245

$8.25 per gallon.

We Brits will not take it much longer. There is already talk of slamming down our cups of tea and jumping the queue at the supermarket.
