Aquatic species typically have a greater dependance on the Earths magnetic field. Meaning they are effected greater by massive electrostatic charges.

Typically any species dependant on such senory perception expresses discomfort during stressing charges of enough magnitude. It only makes sense discomfort turns to "knock-out" when the intensity is great enough.
