He was whacked and his body stuffed in a dumpster. Later that day his body was spotted as the garbage truck emptied its load in the landfill. All garbage loads at this dump are inspected as they are dumped to make sure there isn't anything toxic in the load. Either the killer didn't know or didn't care about the body being spotted.
