If You Eat Processed Meats, Are You Risking Your Life?

A review of more than 7,000 clinical studies examining the connection between diet and cancer came to a stark conclusion: No one should eat processed meats.

The World Cancer Research Fund came to the following conclusion:

"There is strong evidence that ... processed meats are causes of bowel cancer, and that there is no amount of processed meat that can be confidently shown not to increase risk ...

Try to avoid processed meats such as bacon, ham, salami, corned beef and some sausages."

You read that right -- no amount of processed meat is safe.

The reaction of the meat industry was swift, and they promptly accused the report of being erroneous and a tool of the "anti-meat" lobby. Professor Martin Wiseman, project director of the report, replied:

"These insinuations are nothing short of outrageous ... WCRF commissioned the report with money raised from the general public and therefore it was not influenced by any vested interests.

The fact is that our report is the most comprehensive and authoritative review of the evidence that has ever been published and it found convincing evidence that ... processed meat ... increase risk of bowel cancer."

what happened there is what always happens when a traditional diet rich in OMEGA-3 is replaced with western processed junk food. with indigenous societies, people's metabolic systems are geared to thrive on the diet their ancestors had, and so switching to food of radically different composition will wreak havoc every time.

that story is proof that even people living in the middle of the pacific ocean can be dumb western culture groupies. i'm sure there are chinese elitists laughing somewhere.

people in the pacific islands consider themselves poor. they want cars, clothes, and electronics like most of us have, they think thats rich.

but they have something for free that we dont, land, they are born with it, they dont need to go out to the stores to purchase fruits and vegetables, they can work on their land and build on it, but most choose to sit around all day and do nothing but eat cheap processed food.

Most Americans are Delusional About Healthy Eating

In a recent poll of more than 1,200 American adults, close to 90 percent said their diet was either "somewhat," "very," or "extremely" healthy.

However, 43 percent of the survey respondents said they drank at least one sugary soda or sweetened drink every day. A third also said they were at a healthy weight when they actually were overweight or obese.

Physorg reports:

"When they were asked why they didn't eat [the recommended amount of] vegetables, the most common reason given ... was that they thought they consumed enough already. The next most commonly cited reason ... was that they are hard to store ...

Seventeen percent said someone in their household didn't like vegetables, the same number said vegetables take too long to prepare ... and 14 percent said fresh vegetables are too expensive. Thirteen percent said, quite simply, they don't like vegetables."

U.S. Breakfast is Still a Nutritional Nightmare
The top foods eaten for breakfast by Americans include:

•Fruit, 42 percent
•Fruit juice or juice drink, 37 percent
•Cold cereal, 29 percent
•Whole-wheat bread, toast, or muffin, 25 percent
•Eggs, 22 percent (but more than one-third of that group opted for either egg whites or an egg substitute)
•Oatmeal, 18 percent
In other words, the majority of Americans are starting their days off with a hefty dose of sugar, which will not only interfere with your insulin and leptin levels, but will also lead to a major energy crash. It's no wonder that so many Americans are tired by mid-morning and seeking another pick-me-up like coffee or a candy bar -- they are simply not getting the nutrition they need in the morning.

I can't eat a sugary breakfast. I have to eat eggs or nuts or something. I often eat rice and beans mixed together and a side of scrambled eggs and some papaya. I am hypoglycemic, as are almost half of Americans but most don't know it.

How insightful of you to foolishly assume that everyone makes posts here to appease their ego.

We speak as we are.

I'm guessing you choose this lazy self defeating convenience just like you choose to eat greasy fast food most days which is likewise lazy and self defeating.

Go home shill.

Seems the study would have every one eat RAW meat, even cooking meat is a form of processing it.

Many Americans are overweight, many many more are in fact underweight, but they are much harder to spot and often wear oversized clothing. Most Amercians are a healthy weight.

Ever notice how the same MSM that now constantly is telling Americans that they are so drastically overwweight also constantly are being paid to run ads for 'weight loss'? Figure it out yet?

OP I am sure this boils down to simple Common sense..

I am sure that people with brains can make good healthy choices, any one that eats this manufactured chi-less cardboard rubbish or feeds it too their kids must be a bit thick..its not rocket science is it.

Sorry to sound a bit harsh but it really pisses me off to see so called intelligent people banging on about how much they love their family only to see them feeding poisons to them....doh wtf!

I am sure if there was a survey done I would be right its just the thick people that eat this crap...it is round here anyway just go to the school and see the mums with the fat kids its always the stupid ones.

Not a rich/ poor/culture thing either ...just lack of brains

If any one here can tell me otherwise with another theory please enlighten me but its the best reason I can come up with why people eat shit and feed it to kids

Re: SAD - standard american diet ...figure it out
Some do but not all. It comes from family training. My parents taught me to eat home made everything. My wife was taught the same thing. We taught our kids the same.

If you are taught that supper is a big mac and fries, that is what you know. You most likley will pass that on down to your children.

Now I dunno, but some where along the line, people got lazy and didn't pass good eating down to their kids. Because I doubt there were any fast food joints prior to about 1920 or so. Somebody just got lazy. That is all.
Fishing and skiing keeps me a little sane.
