That is that the true colors of our elected officials are the true colors of the American people. And we all know stories about a neighbor or family member who just goes bankrupt. The people in power ain't much better. Sure, they are educated, but when you get people together, thinking just goes out the window |
GaGal User ID: 1013803 United States 01/05/2011 06:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The munis are going down and the Pension funds along with them. This is the dirty secret of most states right now. The Unions got too greedy and now neither the states nor the cities and counties can keep paying these out. The politicians probably knew about this but just passing the ball onto the next elected official. This is REAL DOOM. |

The Monk User ID: 936918 United States 01/05/2011 07:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to finance.yahoo.com] Quoting: Anonymous Coward 862427Texas: The Huge State Budget Crisis Nobody Is Talking About Posted Jan 03, 2011 12:07pm EST by Joe Weisenthal and Gus Lubin in Recession, Politics Related: MUB, LQD, JNK, TLT, TBT, HYG, AGG ShareretweetEmailPrint From The Business Insider You know the story and you know the names: states like Illinois, New Jersey, New York, and California are supposed to be in huge financial trouble thanks to bloated governments, business-unfriendly regulations, and strong public sector unions. After a crisis-free 2010, investors are expected to punish these hotbeds of bad governance in a muni bond market rout, at least if pundits like Meredith Whitney are correct. (See: Muni Bonds: The Next New Crisis?) But there's one state, which is fairly high up on the list of troubled states that nobody is talking about, and there's a reason for it. The state is Texas. This month the state's part-time legislature goes back into session, and the state is starting at potentially a $25 billion deficit on a two-year budget of around $95 billion. That's enormous. And there's not much fat to cut. The whole budget is basically education and healthcare spending. Cutting everything else wouldn't do the trick. And though raising this kind of money would be easy on an economy of $1.2 trillion, the new GOP mega-majority in Congress is firmly against raising any revenue. So the biennial legislature, which convenes this month, faces some hard cuts. Some in the Texas GDP have advocated dropping Medicade altogether to save money. Those damn Mexicans need to start buying more of our crap! Yee haw! |

Texas has the same problem as all these other states- FAT PENSIONS!!! That's why people go into govt., to get at those fat, luscious pensions so they can retire at 45 and make 90% of their salary for the rest of their lives. Instead they will go after the money that the meek and defenseless need, the people who can't stand up for themselves. If Texas wants to get out of it's budget crisis, then it can put an end to the insane pensions it pays out. I vote for States to be able to declare bankruptcy so they can get out from under these inflated pension obligations. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1218758 United States 01/05/2011 07:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This has something to do with Texans but not all. The Vatican has been caught with slush funds for just about everyone in the Senate and Congress, Chelsea Clinton, the Obama children and mother, Janet Napolitano, you name it they have all been stealing money and setting accounts up with the Vatican Bank. The longer they were in office the more in their account. All bought and paid for, their silences, their work, you name it. That must include Pelosi, Biden, Obama, Clinton (s), the whole enchilada. Even some judicial people and military ones. I wonder if all the nations have accounts there, most likely. If you want to be mad be mad at the right ones, the core of the abuses first. They have known this while starving sick and homeless Americans with the Vaticans help. I am sure you will hear more in the future as those who know are not going to back down, no matter what. I want my nation back and people cared for, the abuses to stop now, the laws put back where they were originally, all debts paid by those who stole. They have a choice to help or pay the dues for what they have done, who knows what will happen to them all. Please keep standing up for yourselves Texans, you people are one of the main states that we are proud to know that does. As far as the children who are now placed in the middle of crimes, we must honestly ask ourselves if they should be with any of their parents..it is too bad they had not that of them prior. |

Bus Rides to Casinos in LA. Quick hop flights to Vegas. Driving across The Red River to OK. All that money being spent there by Texans as opposed to in Texas. Regards |
