Quoting: canadian farmer[link to www.excaliburcrossbow.com] +10 I also have an Excalibur. Quality product and deadly accurate. cool, we thought about carrying that cross bow line. They just made Texas legal cross bow during archery season. But, I would rather sell more compound than the cross bows, I think they are fine for disabled, but I'm not keen on the idea of gun hunters and cross bows. No offense to anyone, but they tend to shoot at anything that moves...it's a little scary. |

Quoting: Bowhunter 1188647Now im not sure i actually want one, if it was like a 1000 dollar hoyt i might understand taking it to a pro to be properly cared for, like you might for a 2000 dollar gibson guitar, but i just want a 200-300 dollar bow, if i cant set it up and tweak it all myself i dont see the point really. Imagine having a rifle you couldn't clean, set up the scope and press bullets for, or a guitar you cant restring on your own, seems like too much effort. Maybe im missing something, why cant i buy a bow and set it up and adjust it for relative comfort. oh you can for hunting. The expence we are talking about here is in competing, and that a whole nother rig set up entirely from a pin sight to a scope. Yes, We are talking Creme brulee versus pudding on many of these, but with the technology today you can become proficient at hunting with. You may not be able to nail the center of the bullseye as much as a more expensive set up, but proficient nonetheless You can spend thousands on a bow if you want. The Mathews Safari bare costs approx 2000.00... Won't be spending that kind of money any time soon ![]() |

BTW, I can relate on the rifle hunter bit. Last we went out, had to return fire to get the guy to stop shooting through the brush at us. I swear I think that many of these rifle "Hunters" are in some way just trying to prove their manhood and know jack squat about hunting. I have seen guys in the woods that you could see they were scared to be there just by their body language. I cracked a twig on our way out to the tree stands and all hell broke loose... That is the last time I went out rifle... For the most part the hunters are okay, but about 10% of them have no business being in the woods, let alone carryinga firearm |

No offense here. Hunters are no different than the people who call themselves hunters. You have the good, the bad and the ugly. Archery is a bit more forgiving in this as you cannot simply point and shoot and gives more time for the bad hunter to realize it is a person they are shooting at if such is the case. Rifle on the other hand is not so forgiving and I have seen on several occasions someone shooting at targets they could not see... |

Garage sales also might turn up a nice bow. I passed on a nice Black Widow bow at a pawnshop a few years back. A bit more than I wanted to go at the time, but the nice gear is out there. I shoot a hoyt now that i bought when I was going to get a mathews, the hoyt fit me better. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1215280yea, the hoyt and mathews grips are totally different, I find thats the biggest difference on the hoyt shooters. It was just in 2010 that hoyt went with a roler bar instead of cable slide bar. I think the best selling model we had with hoyt is the alphamax 32, I was suprised it still outsold the maxxis 31 with the rollar bar. |
