With the Internet news travels fast and sometimes I wonder what is the norm have events such as birds and fish dying in mass been occurring all along. I do realize that in my location, the bird population has not been as plentiful as previous years but the cause remains a mystery.

Several years ago, we had an extremely hot dry year and the oak trees failed to produce acorns and the squirrel population was diminished quite a bit however, they appear to have recovered.

Still no one has been able to explain how flocks would suddenly all drop dead. Sick birds don't die in unison. No one has seen them sick or dying. Only dead birds found appeared overnight. Birds do not fly by night. Other explanation needed. And NOT a supernatural one.

I know we've only been on the planet a few seconds, relatively speaking, but you'd think we would have learned SOMETHING the past couple hundred years.

It is the massive bird deaths that are the most freaky part of this entire fiasco. The mass fish deaths have been occuring for some time now and have been largely underreported.

However, birds do fly at night on occaision...

Salmon runs in the Sacramento River have been very low for the last 3 or 4 years. This year, 2010, they were at the lowest anyone can remember! Tons of herbicides and pesticides flow into this river and into the Pacific Ocean. Cumulative effects?

A lake I've gone to my whole life, in northern Alberta, Canada, has had all of the perch disapear in it disapear. :(

This only happened last year. It's a large lake too!

The lake is called Calling Lake, in Alberta. Check that out on google earth and you'll see that it's a good size body of water. Perch... GONE! The food chain in the lake is fucked. Every fish you could catch always had a full stomach. Now they're all empty.
