what is your take nikki?

i am still thinking about all this and wondering ..

The Fish Kill in the Chesapeake Bay I understand I lived there.

Right now I'm guessing but my money is on temperature inversion in most cases.

You got that right Nikki - the freaky shark incidents and behaviors in Egypt were also blamed to "unusual high water temps" - and it was very weird last year. Everything was out of whack, not like normal, water temp 28 C in November, warmer than the outside temp at most dive sites in the south! So put your money on it and you'll win this one.

Animals are very effected my temperature changes and most people don't understand that it appears. The animals that have died can't control their body temperature.

Yup, as a professional diver I can attest to the fact that the change in water temps last year changed the type of marine life that was either suddenly around at places they weren't before or absent compared to the last 10 years before. I didn't hear of dead fish in the Red Sea yet tho...something's changing imho.

There could be a fish kill in the Red Sea and you would never hear about it.

Most of the fish kills in the Chesapeake Bay you don't hear about.

You got that right, once one of my crew told me of a mysterious fish kill that happened on Elphinstone Reef (south of Hurghada), he said 100's of brown small fish were floating dead around it and he's never seen anything like this in his 20 years as a captain in the Red Sea. We had suspected poison which some illegal fishermen sometimes use, but then why would it kill only one species? This happened in 2009 tho, also nothing was reported. I'm sure we'd never hear about it unless it happens on a touristic beach area, even then egyptian officials are quite good at covering things up.
