The direction and length of the sound wave received and the intensity determine the likely location. It takes practice to perfect these skills. |

Quoting: rancelot 240916Well, at least there is a positive spin on it. It happens a few times a month and it is very high, very piercing, and strange :-) I'm in Az. Not sure about earthquakes here. LOL |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1219015 United States 01/07/2011 11:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've noticed this more in the last 6 to 8 months as well, and even mentioned it to my wife a couple of times. Seems to be just me in my house though. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 852120Mine will happen anywhere. AT home, driving, etc.. Can't remember when it started, however it's been awhile.. and always startles me because it is so darn high, gets louder and starts to fade. I am always thankful i have my hearing back after it happens~ |

GB User ID: 1220678 Brazil 01/07/2011 11:48 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've had it before those earthquakes a while back... By the time they happened (high pitch noise, usually on my right ear) I was expecting to see news about some earthquakes. When the earthquake was reported here, I was scared G_G But yeah... Don't know the EXACT cause or consequences of that, but it does sound strange huh... Just some dude that wants to know the Truth. See you all where the light never fades. |

I can then go back where I was before and hear it more intensely...freaks me out a bit? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1170365But I like it. +1 Wouldn't "If it..." be "When it..."? Well, since you couldn't find anything, and I remember seeing the tons of posts, I can safely say it's not just you. As for me, mine hurt, and have for about the past week. Feels like they are close to popping (I wish they would) but never quite get there. ;) "Nothing is as far away as one minute ago." --Jim Bishop :gameizovar: It's DO:OM o'clock. WAKE UP! |

Yes, it should be "When it" rather than "If it". My mistake. It's just I haven't really accepted what it is in general. I can't explain it. OP -- When it happens to you can you also move to make the noise louder/softer? I notice wherever the frequency/sound is coming from stays in the same area, only I can change how I hear it by moving. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1220945 United States 01/07/2011 11:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Has happened to me my whole life. Very infrequent, and completely random. Prob like once or twice a year. It did happen to me just a week or two ago. When it happens, its impossible to not notice, the initial peak is quite loud, but it rapidly fades and is gone in perhaps 10 seconds. I've never given much thought to what it is, always thought it was natural altho def a bit odd. My heart also flutters and skips beats a lot, and those more frequent episodes bother me a lot more than the ear ringing because I always think my heart is gonna stop. LOL |

What is OP? I am new here. Is that a newbie term? How do I graduate from OP :) No, I can't move around...It's ULTRA high, something like you would hear on a hearing test. Piercing. Comes on out of the blue..and slowly fades. |
