The light is most certainly death in the unltimate sense, the darkness is more likely to lead to rebirth. The new age scene has been preaching that white = love and life when in actual fact white is the colour of nothingness and death, white in the yin/yang is masculine and it is the "male" force that seeks to dominate and destroy, the black "feminine" is the side that is unborn. if you think about it...when we are born into this life and see the daylight we are destined to die but whilst in the darkness of the womb we have the potential of life. When you have the dark night of the soul it is a very important journey where much knowledge is gained...knowledge that cannot be found in the light. Don't buy into the concepts of white = being good and black/dark being evil because it's just not true but at the same time I'm not convinced it's a trap to go to the white light if you don't want to reincarnate...if there is such a thing. It doesn't make sense with what I already know about light and dark.
