Surely you can see the attraction there, especially if you are told stories of being tortured forever vs allowing someone else to have already taken care of the problem for you. Help us to accept the things we cant control. Help us to remember your word. Vengence is mine saith the lord, I will repay. The blind lead the blind they both fall in the ditch. A fool says in his heart there is no God. There will be scoffers in the last days. The world will hate you because they hated me firt. And every Eye shall see him. Whatever the reply lord. Let it pierce his mind. In Jesus Name I pray!! AMEN! |

Who says there is no God? Not me. But that vengeful piece of crap is no god or Creator. |

Quoting: twitter thisSo what is that.....like 40 hours.... x 60 min in an hour = 2,400 minutes? No wonder we have worshiped him for 2,000 years......that was some sacrifice. He missed a whole weekend of golf. Seems like he could have just waved his putter in the air and done the same thing? Why put himself through all that torture? Wait another minute, how could a guy who obviously brought himself back to life and repaired his own body really die in the first place? Much less suffer? You think if you could walk on water and raise the dead that maybe you could block out pain? Or at least dissociate from it? And is feeling pain that much of a sacrifice anyway? The Romans crucified 10,000 people just like that. So why was Jesus' suffering special? People give their lives for others all the time - and they have the good sense to stay dead so that people can say that the other person actually sacrificed their lives for them. I mean did Jesus' mother go around wailing and saying that Jesus died? When he was alive 40 hours later? She barely had time to mourn. Don't you think she may have been way happier than sad? If your child drowned in a lake and the paramedics pulled him or her out and they were dead for like ten minutes and you started crying - but after 2 min of CPR, your kid came back to life, would you spend the next 2,000 years lamenting the fact that they had died for a few minutes? Or would you be happy as hell that they were alive? So why are Christians so emotionally wrapped up in Jesus' death/sacrifice? And how is it that they can say that god gave up his only son? Where is Jesus now? Is he missing? Can god not find him? Now, to answer these questions, you have to first pretend that Jesus was real. So let's go. Answers please. Sigh... I understand your frustration. But, there is much, much more to the imagery of the sacrifice of Christ than meets the eye at first...the true sacrifice is that "Christ", "Krishna", the "Enlightened One" entered into this realm of darkness to shed light. A way out. So that we may find escape. To give this to us, the "son" of god descended into creation - to it's very depths...to the first cell and had to work it's way up...through various and incalculable lifetimes until it has ALMOST made it's way out. The resurection of Christ has yet to come. But it comes soon. What is "Christ"? Look around the room you are in. Christ is reality. Christ is the light that shines upon the world...and Christ is that WITNESS that experiences the world through your five senses. To accept Christ is to accept this moment as it is...right now. |

twitter this (OP) User ID: 917033 United States 01/10/2011 09:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Always wondered, whether God's Death is the central message, yes. Haha, Grandpa sacrificed more than 2160000 minutes (and his health) for the freedom and sovereignty of ol' Finland... Right. And how about the Americans who shed their blood on Normandy beach? For people who were complete strangers? Was that any less noble? or maybe even more noble? And if we were given the chance that if but one of us agreed to be tortured, that none of us would ever reap the negative results of our actions - for all men, for all time - don't you think people would line up to perform such a sacrifice? And as far as Jesus goes, how can "god" suffer or "die" or give up anything at all? Much less, being "god". Does a master being associate himself or herself with their body? Or do they understand that they are eternal and never die? Last Edited by twitter this on 01/10/2011 09:27 AM "Life. It's not for everyone." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1224645 United States 01/10/2011 09:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | According to the Bible Jesus was God. This means he could not die. He knew the future and was aware that he could not die. How is it even a sacrifice for the Supreme God of the universe to have his physical body killed? The whole thing seems insane. |

Isn't that like the reverse of what he was preaching? I mean, if he had actually existed? "Life. It's not for everyone." |
