I disagree with your statement. So your statistics are based on this one person, your neighbor? I personally know far too many people that are seriously ill, that do not collect, have tried and failed, only to lose everything.

As a matter of fact, the same assumption was made in a polysci class I was in about a decade ago. Long story short, it was suggested to get the data. For their thesis, this group of ten students did and were quite surprised. Their assumption was flawed.

Sure some get through the system, but the system is tougher than many think, at least here it is.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed.
Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

LOL this is a drop in the bucket!
What about the billions in federal funding doled out to anyone with the right pedigree to study things like sexual habits of rats ?
What about 'tax incentives' for sending jobs overseas?

Again, the main point of the post was to show that my neighbor can keep trying to GET social security (even though she is not disabled) and while she is doing that, can get government benefits. And if one person is doing this, then how many others are out there trying to do the same thing?

Which does beg the question, why don't people that are truly disabled doing the same thing? (I know the answer to that, I just wanted to see what others would say first.)

It wasn't really about statistics. It wasn't really about how many people can't get social security when they really deserve it (Although I did point out, that was PART of the main point.) The MAIN point though was what I stated above.

Sorry OP, but I guarantee I'm a lot worse off than you healthwise, and I still found a niche, turn a nice profit, and never once asked for a damned thing from this government.

living off the government you are in bondage to the government...

If you were registered at birth, the government will try to tell you that you are in bondage with their corporation, and unless you know what to say to rebuke that claim, you will be since by their rules it is dishonorable and therefore unacceptable to just simply say no without proving your self as above their jurisdiction.

And really, what's so bad about being in bondage to a few relatively logical statute rules when compared to the bondage of our monetary system being run by private corporations for private profit simply for commandeering the system?

How much money went to the banks pockets last year, how many hundred's of billions? What was that money spent on, and how did it positively impact the general welfare of the people that paid the way for that profit?

I understand why no one replys to my postings, no one really wants to look at the big picture because it really is very disturbing and depressing.

You were getting SS? Hmmm, you look so fit and healthy... hiding

LOL...no I'm not, a lot of people here swear that I am fat!

Really, I get disability because I have anxiety & PTSD (Plus a few other things like ADHD that I refuse to take meds for.) I am currently looking into something I love to do as an income instead of getting SSI for the rest of my life. (Tarot readings and numerology.) Over the internet of course, due to my anxiety and PTSD etc etc. I am sure I could make more then the $398 I get a month from SSI.
 Quoting: Mother Mary

some would say anxiety is not really and disability I'm not going to touch the other ones. there are many people with anxiety disorder and ptsd and manage to work. what is that saying about stones and glass houses.

one more thing not to be mean or anything but why would anyone pay online for a tarot reading when they can get it online for free or go to a local tarot reader for $5.

Public awareness is the key, most people know the basics and once a few details fall into place they mostly agree with NESARA type provisions to solve the whole mess.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Re: How to live off the government - without having a ton of children (Or even one child!)
My sis has told me for years that I have been doing things all wrong. Her and her husband has 2 kids and taking every advantage of being on the gvt. They make 6 figures doing so. She gets social security, wic, Medicaid, food stamps, disability, and SSI on both kids. Oh, there is something else too there is some kind of state supplemental gvt check she gets for the kids too. The big kicker here is the kids don't even live over here. She let them go live overseas with family while getting all these benefits. This is not counting the under the table job her husband has too.

Unf****believable!!!

Her reply on all of this is that our gvt is stupid enough to hand it all out and that isn't her fault for taking the shit.

I just want to add to all of this is the fact she was a "C" or "D" student in high school and never finished high school yet smart enough to outsmart the govt if you can call it that and get all these benefits. Hell, she said the gvt will even provide the book on how to file bankruptcy and get the most out of that, which I even looked at it. Yet, most people will file bankruptcy just cause they are longer able to pay up and only file what they owe to the creditors. She actually gets money out of that and then transfer it to an overseas account.
I never thought about her being smart enough to do anything but I guess if you put your mind to something..one would be really surprise what you can do.
I do have to say that I know quite of few people who are drained and fed up with the whole process and act like they can't get anywhere with it. It is those people that are not paying enough attention and/or not asking the right questions to how to do this or not going to the right people for help getting it all started.

I have a baby sis that gets it and the said part she don't know any better. My mom took her out of school after the counselor told her that she would be able or maybe able to work some job like bagging groceries or do something like stocking shelves. My mom heard that and ran. She is now over 30 and yet they don't give her a dime of that money as that is their money. Sad and yet its not like I can do anything about the situation like when I go visit her they keep her on a tight leash and keep her close by.

 Quoting: Rock Soup

Totally agree.Yes there will always be a few slip through but overall its hard to get disability. Most the time if you do finally get it you have lost everything and the stress has almost killed you. Some have the assumption its easy to get.Its not and you better believe it takes medical evidence to get approved. As for reapplying as in the original post there has to be more to it because you are notified that you can appeal if not approved. If you dont appeal then the case will close and you have to reopen. In the mean time all the 'freebies' would be cut off and if you reopen a case at SS you would have to go through all that red tape paperwork to get housing, etc. That doesnt happen overnight and can takes months just to get the housing approved. So this person would not have housing in between cases.I suspect there is more to it than the person is telling you.Maybe she is tired of people assuming things about her and just lets people think what they want.

I agree with you. I heard once that it was 1/2 of 1% of the national budget to pay for welfare. Not sure about SSI, but I know that the government treats the old folks, our ancestors, who worked their asses off for years, like crap.

My mom, for example, worked her whole life since since she was 14 years old . Now she caN'T even get enough money to eat off of. She had to survive off of getting an extra job at the age of 70 or so. Don't you see ever see alot of old folks still out there working. God bless them, but the money the gov spends on other things is so much more. ?

Piddlings it is that the poor folk get. Leave them alone, it';'s a small loophole intended for the poor folk, and elderly to literally be able to live like humans and not like the rats.whatever

The problem here is that you obviously don't understand that the "government" you claim to live off of... is actually the hardworking taxpayers of this country. Without us, there would be no money for slackers like you and your friend who are too lazy to work to earn a living. Eventually, we are going to get tired of supporting all of you, and stop working and live off the savings we have earned and hidden away, and then where will you be? Robbing and pillaging? Because you won't have any skills, any work experience, or education to get a job when you have to. Think on that before you continue to spread your leeching propaganda.

The trouble with your scenario is that you don't get S.S. just by applying for it. You only receive it after it has been approved. Yes, you can appeal but you aren't getting any payments during the appeal process, no matter how long it lasts, until you've actually been approved. I'm not sure why you would suggest that it's easy to scam the system. It's so difficult to qualify for S.S. that many people give up out of sheer frustration. My daughter suffered a traumatic head injury and it took us 3 years to get her on S.S. with the help of an attorney. She never could have navigated the system on her own.

In Aus, a mother doesn't have to work or look for work until the youngest child turns 6. If you want to get on a disability pension, you need a doctor's cerftificate and proof that you can't work. Social housing takes up to 10 years to get as you go on a waiting list in order of priority. You have to be homeless on the street before they will help you fully.
