The title says it all, mouse over pictures for the details.

For those who say this Australian flood is NORMAL... Just look at the pics... This isn't normal, otherwise these cities would be pointless to re-build after these floods!..
 Quoting: Project Scarecrow

So we have no common sense and think our dams will save us. Floods in this area are indeed normal.

FFS people, flooding like this in a major Aussie city is a very rare event.

Not any more. this is regular from here on out,get used to it,
they are screwing with the weather and we get chem trailed out here by Lake Tahoe, Nevada, USA, and a few days later they have Tornadoes in the US central and Eastern areas, giant weather abortions causing death, caused by the US government.
They are doing it down near OZ too,This is no accident.

bullshit. the floods were caused by an excess of water from the dam.

tptb knew what was comming and should have released the water from the dam before the rain came becasue it was at 195%. that's why that dam was built, to protect the towns and brisbane from a flood. the damn should always be around 100%, anything more should be released slowly bit by bit..you've got to ask why did they let it get so full in the first place?

Bullshit, they are fucking with the weather ,every day, you can see it in the sky over Hawaii,Scotland,California,New Zealand, Tokyo, look up,!!!!!!
It is all over the net and is not even a secret if you care enough to look and research, CHEMTRAILS.

OH FFS, that's NOT the point

That's a great way to show the impact.

Many will hate this, but it seems that - like parts of New Orleans - certain parts of Queensland shouldn't be rebuilt.

Nature has a way of telling people when they should move on and out of its way.

I read somewhere, that the Aborigines had been moving inland, and to higher grounds for years. Anyone have any info about that, I would like to refresh my memory.

I wonder if the Aborigines, have some knowledge, in their legends about the end times, like the Mayans?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1121571

Aborigine legend state that rivers are created by giant snakes and not soil erosion. In fact the Australian legal system described the aborigine customery law in the 1800s as being barbaric and filled with the darkest superstitions.

I thought we called them 'booms', also the urban dictionary states that it's also a name for dole bludgers. So it's difficult to grasp the meaning of what you said.

BULLSHIT YOU GUYS

You all better take another look at these photo's. There are trees where there wasn't trees in the after photo's.
Their may be flooding, but these photo's have been altered.

EDIT:

Unless their was a long period of time between when these pictures were taken.
The second picture is most obvious. Just to the left of center one of the two large white roofed structures has an added large tree on the north side of the building next to the street. Must have been some time between pics......

BAHAHAHAHA !!!!

Retard.

You think these people loosing their homes or more their lives would think its bullshit!

Go to one of the funerals and say its bullshit.

I think you may have just been retarded enough to actually think the jan 13 and 14th was the dates of before and after when the article clearly states they are both dates that the FLOOD pics were taken. The flood lasted a few days peaking around these dates.

Oh the idiocy.

How many times did this place flood before all those people moved in?

Every few years there is a flood, that's why most houses are built off the ground.

Aussie friend says it's 1 in 200 years with a flood like this.
 Quoting: bed

The last big flood was 1974, hardly 200 years. This one is more costly simply because of the higher population density.

This and katrina are why houses should not be built just below dams or in areas below sea level

Sorry, not in Aussie, here we are talking about a known weather event, some poor planning perhaps added to the floods but just a weather event nonetheless.

These are the best quality images on the internet of Brisbane Flood Disaster.

Here within these ground satellite images you can see the devastation to my city.

Use the dropdown dates and select say the 13th Jan 2011.
Zoom down and reselect the dates. You will see how people made their escape by ladders lent against back fences and by boats. Destroyed lives for the world to see.

I was the first to post as it occurred and to have this condescending insulting image posted in my post is irreprehensible beyond words.

To have this inserted by a MOD as the people I live with are dying is the lowest crass thing I have ever seen in the five years on GLP.

ABO is also derogatory ..

Short for Aborigine

The correct common term for Aborigines
in the southern part of Oz including Brisbane
is COORIE,..

Only rednecks and people from the generations of the cold war years use the term ABO .. or even worse BOONG ..

There was mention on a show about predictions and prophecies years ago that the Australian Aboriginals would know when it was time to head inland.

I haven't heard of any doing so. Most of them today are so cut off from their spiritual beliefs and the connection to the land that they used to have, that they will not 'hear' the warning anyway.

If their elders warned them, again, few would listen, they would stay near the pubs.

The only time they moved inland, was a couple of hundred years ago when we took all the most fertile land, and drove them into the outback, since we considered it to be useless.

I had planned to go when they go, so will let you know if I hear they are on the move.

Re: Queensland floods, high res before and after photos
I think it is the floods in Victoria which are what they are referring to as one in a 200 year event.

Floods up here in the northern parts, which are prone to cyclones, happen all the time.

The flash flood experienced in Towoomba was something out of the ordinary, for this area. Flash floods do occur in other areas of the country though.

What is unusual about the Victorian and Tasmanian flooding is that it is occuring in summer. Their wet season is winter. The wet season in Queensland is summer. It should be dry down south, not flooding.

Before someone else corrects me: Yes, we do have flash floods in Queensland and Northern NSW. What I meant was that the enormity of it was out of the ordinary. The amount of rain that fell in such a short time is almost unbelievable.
