For one thing you have to be registered to vote to be called for jury duty, census forms are not used to find jurers. |

For one thing you have to be registered to vote to be called for jury duty, census forms are not used to find jurers. Quoting: B Stur 1235427It seemed legit enough to me. As for how they pull names - there's not a set way to do it. I know my mom didn't register to vote for years because she wanted to avoid jury duty. They've changed the rules here and no longer go by voting registries. In one city I lived, at the beginning of the year they drew names of every over 18 that lived in the city...I'm not sure how they figured that out - may have been from city taxes?? Or like the article - they may get names from the census. Anyway, they'd draw like 300 names and if you were in that list, you could be called multiple times throughout the year. (I got called twice) But once your name was drawn - you were removed from the drawing for the next 5 years or more. All that said - I find the story hysterical and wouldn't hesitate to take my cat in on jury day. The sheer amount of giggles and chuckles would make it worth it!! God Bless President TRUMP! GOD BLESS AMERICA!! |
