What is the oddest thing you buy/keep/collect for supplies when TSHTF?

I have hundreds of those clip things...they were meant to hold paper together in a office. I guess they could hold other things together nicely as well.

Dust Bunnies. They are flammable, you can knit sweaters out of them and the best part is that you waste no time or energy collecting them.. in fact... the more you ignore them.. the bigger they get!!!! Awesome right?!? :)

I keep those huge plastic water jugs after their empty because I figure that if their was a disaster, I'd refill them with whatever is left in our pipes and water heater. I have stacks of them in the garage.

Yes, I guess I could just add them to my lint collection! Which I put into a box now and did note that the lint would be good for knitting. I need a spindle.

I have a ridiculously large collection of glass jars!!

I have an amazing Dust Bunny maker that works 24/7.. a really large, incredibly long haired cat .. I can coral all the dust bunnies and have the place spic N span and in one day I come home from work to entirely new batches of baby bunnies all over the house..

Get a large (really large.. mines 20lbs) long haired cat.. it will more than quadruple your bunny herd... truly ...

I was thinking the same thing, but thought that I had heard somewhere that the plastic can leech into the water. I apparently don't listen to that though, cause after we drink a gallon of milk I clean it out and fill it with water.

probably going to re-think this soon but I was in a phase where instead of taking clothes I wasn't wearing to the consignment shop or goodwill or tossing them out, I was packing them up in suitcases or duffel bags in case all hell breaks loose and we can't get what we are used to. Or in case doing laundry becomes very difficult.

I only kept very practical things like that you could wear for working outside, or extra changes of clean dry underwear and socks that maybe are kind of worn but still serviceable.

I have bought things like leather pants that aren't very attractive but would be good for camping out if you were really in a rough situation. Or would be good for working in a horse barn.

also have a collection of cashmere items, cashmere sweater dresses, cashmere pajamas, cashmere sweaters, in weird styles and colors but would sure be cozy for sleeping in if the power was out for extended periods. Bought for super cheap secondhand or were given to me.

Not too long ago I did go through a lot of this stuff and sorted out the keepers and got rid of a good amount. Need to do that again.
