J-Rico (OP) User ID: 1164537 ![]() 01/21/2011 03:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sat through a few when I lived there years ago, but 5.3 is a little high. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 373696Still, it's that kind of area. Yep, I felt the "tremors" all the time. It's kinda normal. You pretty much feel one about every week. It's not unusual to hear about a 3.0 and the talk about "my bed moved", but 5.3 is a little high for that area. Everyone dies, but not everyone lives. :moranrico::Rico::moranrico: |

That's quite a lot of movement lately. I don't think this is THAT normal. Everyone dies, but not everyone lives. :moranrico::Rico::moranrico: |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 373696 ![]() 01/21/2011 03:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm totally hoping this doesn't indicate anything but there was a 5.0 13 or so hours before this 5.3 that's on the same map but apparently closer to St kitts: Quoting: JaneDoeX0X(map) [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] (list) [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] The one by St Kitts is pretty deep, may have an impact on the Soufrière Hills Volcano on Montserrat. Complicated world. |
J-Rico (OP) User ID: 1116423 ![]() 01/21/2011 03:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There was a LOT more than the ones I posted, I just didn't have the time to post them while I was at home, but in the last few months, there has been a LOT of activity in that area. It's always normal to feel a little movement down in that area, but Mag 3's and over at a constant... I want to look more into that. Everyone dies, but not everyone lives. :moranrico::Rico::moranrico: |

J-Rico (OP) User ID: 1116423 ![]() 01/21/2011 03:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Quoting: Storm* Yep, everyone on the island knows about the Trench and the shakes and EVERYONE knows someone who has a family member who went through the tsunami of 1918. That wave came in a few miles in and despite what everyone says about them trying to be prepare, I'll assure you right now, none of those islands are REALLY prepared for another tsunami. Everyone dies, but not everyone lives. :moranrico::Rico::moranrico: |

Wikipedia is cool sometimes. I start out looking for something, and end up clicking link after link. Pretty soon, I don't even remember what it is I started out looking for. So then I just come back here. |
J-Rico (OP) User ID: 1116423 ![]() 01/21/2011 03:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's good sized. The area has been really shaking lately. Quoting: * Azul *I'll call dh's papi and see if he felt it. If he lives near the Northwestern side of the island, he probably felt it more than the rest of it. That's the hot spot for earthquake activity. The epicenters are almost always directly north of that area. Everyone dies, but not everyone lives. :moranrico::Rico::moranrico: |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1085309 ![]() 01/22/2011 10:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 17 & 18 were not far away , but still the 7.8 one awaits 38 miles north of san juan at 30 miles depth.... other areas for peril el faro punta este cabo rojo can put a 9.8 one .... arecibo city coast 8.9 and pozo de la virgen sabana grande & north of Yauco city say a 9.2 .... this quakes will form a pattern that will exibit it as act of "GOD" not human or natural making. |
