Subject Pulled out my Magellan 315 GPS ......

I dug my old Magellan 315 out of storage and powered it up - why? - because sometimes old equipment can tell you stuff the new shit will not.
The Magelllan 315 was produced for about 2 years (1998-2000)
and that was when the "GPS" market really started to take off. It was fairly cheap (I paid about $160.00 at the time for it) and it served me well.
BUT the 315 with the ORIGIONAL software had a pretty cool function - it allowed you to pull up the SAT's that you were tracking and gave detailed info on every one (altitude, rise or set on the sun (acending or decending or stationary), currently active or down, "bumper number" or SAT ID number, degree's above horizon (and weather it was ascending or decending), and frequency it was operating on.

Well, I put the 315 on my back porch for about 2 hours (with fresh batteries) to let it get good tracking.
I ended up tracking 6 SAT's, 3 were signaling but inop (not tracking) 2 were operational, and get this - when I tried to pull up the data on SAT # 6 (ID 1141) it only came back as "LOCKED" - I have never seen that before.
Also I compared my military lensatic compass (that I have had and trusted for 22 years) to the 315 compass, the lensatic compass was off by 15 degrees ? !

Just wondering, I'm not exactly a rocket scientist, but
It just seems that things are "NOT RIGHT"!
