Quoting: RossDo you ever get insect problems with soil plant indoors? some, but an occasional shot of neem or insecticidal soap seems to clear it right up. |

I haven't had bug problems at home since it is a very controlled environment, but i have run into bug issues in my soil plants at work. Spider mites, and white flys have resisted the insecticidal soap. Does Neem oil work better? I haven't bought it, because of the price of it. |

I will be putting a video up later this week on cloning basil. I did the footage, I just need to edit and upload it. now that should be interesting. i've never seen any point in doing that with basil, but it could be fun. |

The reason I am cloning basil is that I am taking 80 cloned basil plants to my classroom. The students will plant them in they hydroponic systems at work. They will be sold to the farmers market and local organic stores for fundraising for our classroom. Our batches fetch us between 120.00 to 200ish a week. Some variables are involved on who we are selling to. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1251234i've always liked neem. it doesn't instantly kill insects like poisons though. takes a while to work. that's fine with me, but if ye try neem keep that in mind. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1147347The lights in my grow room were purchased at my local hydroponic store. Not all lights are made equal and some ebay ones don't work well at all. They are LED grow lights that are 90 watts each. The cheaper ebay ones use the not so good led lights. Some reputable companies use the higher quality cree lights. This particular unit is 180watts and should be equivalent to two of my lights. [link to www.gothamhydroponics.com] I haven't tried this company, but some people say they work very well. I would try one to start to make sure they work great. Led's work well because they focus on the spectrum of light that plants like to use for growth. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1251013 ![]() 01/31/2011 09:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I found Neem good, but to get rid of those little black flying things (possible fungus nats) a layer of perlite on top of the soil really mess's with em, cause they can not get to the soil therefore lifecycle stops - for them. ![]() |
