We don't really make anything here anymore, so we can't really isolate ourselves. About the only thing we make here is toxic GM crops, and pharmaceuticals that kill you. |

anonanon User ID: 1252364 United Kingdom 02/01/2011 04:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Absolutely! Let's declare ourselves completely neutral in all conflicts and adopt Switzerland's foreign policy. Then we just have to declare all our crazy mutual defense treaties null and void and bring all our troops home to be put into new bases all along our southern border so they can get there faster if necessary. We need a really strong, kick-ass military as a defense against the nutters who might want to attack. However, the time for us to have troops all over the world is over. Keep a few naval bases and in various places, maybe keep the big base in Germany, but bring the rest home. We can be strong but neutral. By all means, we can be generous with humanitarian aid and assistance but we really do need to learn the lessons of the last hundred years and stay out of foreign wars unless we are directly attacked. |

However, do agree with screw the rest of the retards in the world part. "I once put instant coffee in the microwave... I almost went back in time." "I do not see coincidence, I see Providence." "To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1252275 United States 02/01/2011 04:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's well past time that the US pulls everything back and tells the world "No more foreign aid from us. No more money just so you'll be our friend." It would crash China, sorry to say but it needs to be done for as bad as being strictly consumers is for us, being strictly producers is wreaking havoc on them as well. It would limit over population on a global scale, as many of these countries rely on North America to feed them in their barren lands. It would restore our ecosystem at the same time. We need to stop looking for and creating gimmicks to entertain ourselves and get back to the basics: Food, shelter, and clothing. We can still have modern amenities on a sustainable level, but the failed world financial structure needs to be addressed and let crash. Items should be valued at a fair fixed rate between individuals, and a non variable currency should be institutionalized across the boards. |

Defund the UN, out of afghanistan, iraq, japan, korea, germany, italy, use the money saved on these wars and forward deployed troops to invest in a real star wars missile defense. If we didnt have interests spread all across the globe, it wouldnt be so easy for assholes to threaten us. If they did threaten us it would be on our own soil which we would not stand for and summarily we would crush anyone stupid enough to try. |

With the diversity of resources and ability of our two nations i see no reason we couldnt be sustainable. someone said we need a bigger fence for our mexican border but i have a better idea. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 868423That's why I said a fixed rate valuing system. The only reason that goods aren't "cheap" now is because the terms "expensive" and "cheap" are manufactured. As long as the values are allowed to fluctuate, this will always be a problem. Average labor in time at set rate + value of raw materials + average overhead + 5% = Fixed product value. No more unions growing these overinflated markets where cost of living is 10x what it is in normal parts of the country. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 868423a lot of basic things would not even be available. You have to free your mind from the financial "monetary" racket that we perceive price/value with right now. Money inflates and deflates in value. Products hold steady value. If something goes up in price, it's because the currency has devalued, not the other way around. |

Forgot to add, there is some fluctuation in price due to supply/demand, but that problem is easy for the markets to self correct/regulate. The only place it can't is in food where we have massive failed crops. |
