THE NEW MOON - if EARTH revolves around SUN and MOON around EARTH, at some point the MOON would pass in front of the SUN.

THE NEW MOON occurs once every month. PINOCCHIO scientists say the new moon passes in front of the sun. [ link to www.qatarembassy.net] Wouldn't I see a BIG rock like the MOON pass under the sun or above the sun even while I extend my hand in front of the sun shielding it while I look over and under for that BIG ROCK floating in broad daylight? Why hasn't anyone ever seen it? Is it because the sun and the moon both revolve around the 360 flat arcs of the spherical earth, and by this, the moon would never pass in front of the sun? Please help me figure this out....
