There are also stories of Hitler escaping there by submarine.

I wonder if there isn't a hidden sub base there today.

I know it's COLD, and white, AND far away. AND someplace I'll probably NEVER go.

What else would need to know??

Re: Tell me what you know about Antarctica.
The Western Group, however, were to make a remarkable discovery. At the end of January 1947 a PBM piloted by Lieutenant Commander David Bunger of Coronado, California, flew from his ship, the Currituck and headed towards the continent’s Queen Mary Coast.

On reaching land, Bunger flew west for a time, then, coming up over the featureless, white horizon, he saw a dark, bare area which Byrd later described as,

"a land of blue and green lakes and brown hills in an otherwise limitless expanse of ice." (18)

Bunger and his men carefully reconnoitered the area before racing back to the Currituck with news of their find. The ‘oasis’ they had discovered covered an area of some three hundred square miles of the continent and contained three large, open water lakes along with a number of smaller lakes. These lakes were separated by masses of barren, reddish-brown rocks possibly indicating the presence of iron ore.

Several days later, Bunger returned to the area, and found that the water was warm to the touch and the lake itself was filled with red, blue and green algae giving it a distinctive colour. Bunger filled a bottle with the water which later,

"turned out to be brackish, a clue to the fact that the ‘lake’ was actually an arm of the open sea." (19)

This is important for two reasons; warm, inland lakes connected to the surrounding oceans would be perfect for submarines to hide within, and similar lakes have been noted in Neu-Schwabenland, the site of the alleged Nazi base.

There is no conclusive evidence of a Nazi base on Antarctica, however that something untoward was happening on, or around, the frozen continent appears, on balance of probabilities, to be likely.

It's fascinating, the possibility of fertile land in the middle of all that ice...with warm waters...

What about its ancient history? How did it really become a 'frozen wasteland'?

What's under all that ice? And what is being hidden from us about Antarctica today?

I have a few 'TEOTWAWKI' theories, some involve Antarctica to a degree. Before I expound on those, I need to know more about the place... from scientific facts to theories and myths. Any points of note that you've ever heard or read about Antarctica... past, present, and future.

Input very appreciated.

i went there once, in the Chilean government part. I was surprised to see so many nations having "territory" there. I saw the bluest ice i have ever seen, other than that, just snow and frozen ground and military folks. i have no secret knowledge, but there must be something down there.

Weddell Sea Anomaly

[link to www.agu.org]

"From the observed altitudinal structure of the WSA during 1800–2400 LT and the similar feature occurred in the opposite hemisphere suggest that the southward offset of the magnetic equator with respect to the geographic equator plays a major role for the WSA formation."

[link to books.google.com]

"The Weddell Sea anomaly is a summer phenomenon which extends from the Falkland Islands to the southern shore of the Weddell Sea and most probably to the south pole. The anomaly consists of an unusual diurnal variation with the main maximum occurring around local midnight ... with a minimum during the day.

This anomaly is a summer phenomenon, occurring when the ionosphere is continually illuminated, and it must be caused by drifts. The analogy is known for the northern hemisphere."

Five stars. I want to know, too.
 Quoting: Psemeni

Yep, I know more about Mars than they've ever allowed us to know about Antarctica.

1.The Pieri Reis (sp?)map shows Antarctica without it's ice.
2.Some people think Antarctica was Atlantis...if you imagine the Earth spun around with Antarctica where the mid-Atlantic is now it makes more sense...pre-pole-shift.
3.Some scientists say the snow/ice cover is illogical...it shouldn't be possible.

I personally believe there are cities under that ice...and TPTB KNOW it. I mean long-dead cities...not currently inhabited ones..lol

A guy named Stan Deyo has some recent interviews he did on on his website about recent research and discoveries he has had on the hollow earth theory and the dark star nasa just announced. standeyo.com

The interviews are right on the top. You should go over there because many interviews to are available to chose from and I am not sure which one you want to listen to. All this is involved in what is happening in Antartica and the ice melting there.

Have fun!

Re: Tell me what you know about Antarctica.
Seven countries currently ‘officially’ claim territory in Antarctica. A map of these claims looks like a pie chart, as all are centred on the geographical South Pole(*). If all those claims would be realised, one would be able to visit those seven countries by simply walking in a circle around that one point. But all territorial claims on Antarctica were ‘frozen’ by the Antarctic Treaty of 1961, which also stipulated that thereafter, no new claim could be made. Present claimants are:

* France (Terre Adélie, since 1924)
* Chile (Antárctica, since 1940)
* Argentina (Antártida Argentina, since 1943)
* Australia (Australian Antarctic Territory, since 1933)
* United Kingdom (British Antarctic Territory, since 1908)
* Norway (Dronning Maud Land, since 1939; Peter I Island, since 1929)
* New Zealand (Ross Dependency, since 1923)

Oil field
An oil field is a region with an abundance of oil wells extracting petroleum from below ground. Because the oil reservoirs typically extend over a large area, possibly several hundred kilometres across, full exploitation entails multiple wells scattered across the area...

Several million years ago it was in a tropical region of earth. Plate Tectonics shoved it southward and eventually it will creep back north and warm up again.

Most likely with all this digging and exploring we will stumble across a deadly ancient pathogen, release it back to the world, killing off most of us.
