The invasion of Iraq has about as much to do with middle east democracy as Obama speaking in Egypt did.

Socioeconomic factors lead to it, not some inspiration from a country they all hate.

1. It would appear so:

2. What world are you living in? There's more violence and chaos than any other time in the last 50 years.

3. Barry Hussein's idea of democracy is Socialism. He has no transparency.

4. Your sexual choice are your business, and we already knew you were retarded.

Re: Thank you George Bush. Thank you American troops.
I almost gagged on my coffee when I read the header on this thread.

The onliest item I agree with is thanking our American troops for their service to our country.

Thanking bush, on the other hand...reminded me of this article:

Snip:

Joseph E. Stiglitz and Linda J. Bilmes: The $10 trillion hangover ... Paying the price for eight years of BushSource: Harper's (1-1-09)

[Linda J. Bilmes, a lecturer in public finance at Harvard University’s Kennedy School, is a former assistant secretary for administration, management, and budget in the U.S. Department of Commerce. Joseph E. Stiglitz is University Professor of Economics at Columbia University and winner of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economics. Bilmes and Stiglitz are co-authors of The Three Trillion Dollar War: The True Cost of the Iraq Conflict.]

In the eight years since George W. Bush took office, nearly every component of the U.S. economy has deteriorated. The nation’s budget deficits, trade deficits, and debt have reached record levels. Unemployment and inflation are up, and household savings are down. Nearly 4 million manufacturing jobs have disappeared and, not coincidentally, 5 million more Americans have no health insurance. Consumer debt has almost doubled, and nearly one fifth of American homeowners are likely to owe more in mortgage debt than their homes are actually worth. Meanwhile, as we have reported previously, the final price for the war in Iraq is expected to reach at least $3 trillion.

As bad as things are, though, this is just the beginning. The Bush Administration not only has depressed the economy and racked up unprecedented debt; it also has made expensive new commitments to the Medicare Part D prescription drug program, to disability compensation and education benefits for veterans, to replenishing the military equipment consumed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and simply to paying interest on the debt itself.

The president is not solely to blame for American profligacy, of course. Congress approved inequitable tax cuts and spending binges, and the Federal Reserve and other regulators, along with the mortgage industry and millions of consumers, share responsibility for the housing collapse. Nonetheless, the outgoing administration has made a series of unwise economic choices that together will add up to a burdensome legacy.

Using conservative assumptions, we calculate that the bill for Bush-era excess—the total new debt combined with the total new accrued obligations— amounts to $10.35 trillion. This legacy will have long-term consequences for America’s prosperity, but it also will weigh heavily and immediately on the Obama Administration, which will need to spend money fast to get the economy moving again.

When George W. Bush took office, he inherited a budget surplus of $128 billion and a bright fiscal future.

The Congressional Budget Office, the nonpartisan government agency responsible for estimating future expenditures and revenues, projected a cumulative budget surplus of about $5.6 trillion between 2002 and 2011, if the country stayed on track—which of course it did not. What happened instead was that the administration successfully pushed for not only two rounds of massive, inequitable tax cuts but also a 59 percent surge in government spending. The result has been the largest budget deficits in U.S. history, and estimates of the current deficit are climbing even as we go to press. In September, before the financial meltdown, the CBO projected the deficit for fiscal 2009 to reach $438 billion—about the same level as it was in 2008—but in October, Peter Orszag, the director of the CBO, predicted the deficit would reach $750 billion, and we believe that number could go higher still. Such increases are the result of several factors:...

Thank you George Bush, and especially the brave American soldiers, for fighting for and helping create the only stable, civic democratic society in the Middle East, that has not devolved into rioting rape mobs.

I'm speaking of Iraq of course.

There is still a long struggle ahead, and likely Obama is doing his utmost to screw up Iraq too, but Iraq is a shining beacon of hope and inspiration for the ME.

If Obama doesn't screw things up, Bush will go down in history as the father and architect of a democratic Middle East.

I will make sure to cast history in a PURE TRUTH...

1. Saddam was a bad guy killed millions of people.
2. Bush was a bad guy now has killed hundreds of thousands people.
3. Both Tortured people

The differences..
1. Bush LIED TO A NATION. He hundreds of thousands of people to their death..

AND WHO FUCKING IS GETTING ANYTHING OUT OF IT ????

Rich multinational corporations....

What would have been the right thing to do after the war ????

Hmmmm Maybe offer the Government contracts to smaller United States corporations who would best serve the interests on the American people while providing and employing the Iraqi citizens with jobs..

No THEY DID NOT DO THAt, THEY HAVE NOT IMPROVED quality of life, AND THERE IS MORE TURMOIL THAN EVER FOR THESE PEOPLE

Watch and see what happens...> The Middle East will be the Next Africa, nothing but Factional warfare, and genocide....

Why???? All cause we couldn't mind our business.... or Intervene out of the true yearning to want bring them democracy and freedom..

These people who are "backing" the new revolts, are the same old....

And yes... It will go through the Middle East, and all the way to possibly Russia and China.... (WHich is were it will end)

Revolutions are contagious ...

These newly set up "Democracys" will set up our NWO....

So how that NWO goes from there is up to the people.

(Keep in mind for the slick dumb asses out there, A New World Order isn't always a bad thing, EVEN YOU PEOPLE want a New World Order of some sorts..)

Agree. Bush did more for freedom in even EGYPT than B.O. He's done more for the continent of Africa than B.O. and every other president put together. He did more for Aids than any other president too.

He also kept us strong militarily. We weren't getting laughed at by the Chinese. And he didn't bow to foreign leaders.

He protected us from another 911.

He warned us loud and clear (for all who were willing to listen) that Social Security was going to collapse. The libs scoffed with contempt at his suggestion to privatize (let you have your own money that you've paid into) Social Security. He warned about housing and specifically Fannie and Freddie--no one listened. He warned about the budget--Congress kept spending on pork and remember, Congress controls the nation's pursestrings.

But most of all, George Bush LOVES, LOVES, LOVES America. You never questioned his patriotism. I sure don't get that vibe from our current president.

THANK YOU GEORGE BUSH FOR ALL YOU DID FOR US. I FOR ONE, MISS YOU!!!

it is difficult to recover from blunders like this:

"The current financial crisis is the direct result of 28 years of rightwing Republican deregulation, corruption, and greed, which became fatally toxic under Bush-Cheney and the Republican Congress. When George Bush stole the White House in 2001, President Clinton handed him a projected 10-year surplus of $5 trillion. But Bush immediately gave $2 trillion in tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, then wasted $1-3 trillion invading Iraq on the basis of lies. Now Bush demands Congress increase the national debt to $11 trillion."

I've been to Iraq(civilian contractor). Most of you Yay-hoo's don't have a clue. The Iraq invation went textbook. (not arguing hindsight here, shoulda, coulda,) The post invasion was the failure here. When there's no work and no food on the table, the good feelings wear away pretty quickly.

Paul Bremer et al let loose the standing military. HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake. A million men that would have easily become a police force. Now a million desperate men with rifles and no income. Dumb dumb dumb.

The Iraqi's were generally very warm people. Talk to them at a stall and next thing they are inviting you to dinner.

And a US troops did not kill a million civilians. That's just a made up claim.

cheers
