Sudden unexplained movement of Prisoners...UPDATE~Rationing food for remaining prisoners began today! (3/15/11)

Just got a call from my friend with the family member in the "system" and she said that beginning today, they have begun rationing the food and things like coffee for the prisoners.

Seems like a possible connection to the thread about the military being warned of money shortage.

A friend of mine has a family member in the prison system here in North Carolina. She called me today highly alarmed. We had spent the weekend discussing possible pressing events this Spring (and particularly the number of dots that appear to be connecting for this March-April time period).

She went to visit her family member in prison this afternoon and he acted very depressed. He has not been in prison but a few months and told her that he had some guys in the system that he had befriended and that "had his back" but they were suddenly notified yesterday that they were being moved to another facility.

These guys, along with (according to him) about half of the prison population were notified yesterday that they would be moved and this morning, they were all taken somewhere else first thing. The prisoners that remain are lower level, non-victim offenders (drug possession, illegal pornography, etc.) and the ones that were moved were higher level offenders. No one has been told anything about where they are going or why that my friend was made aware of.

It is not certain where they were sent but my friend's family member was missing his friends when she arrived today and very depressed. She has not told him anything about the "outside world" but tries to keep their visits very positive and uplifting. So news of this sudden, unexplained transfer of prisoners alarmed her and she immediately called me to see what I thought. Of course, my first instinct is to post a thread about it and see what others here think.

Is this going on in other places? Does this sort of thing happen normally or is this unusual?

My friend describes this prison as more like "Auschwitz" than any prison she had ever seen. It has rudimentary, open-air barracks with bunk beds (no heat), no prison cells but completely surrounded by chain link and razor wire with guard towers. This prison is located in the middle of no-where and, to my friend's knowledge, this has been the operating "prison" in this area for many years so it is not like they were using it temporarily while they completed construction of a nicer facility. Makes me wonder if FEMA isn't aware of some pressing disaster and is getting ready to use it for their purposes. But who knows!

Anyway, does anyone have other thoughts on this? Is this normal?
