People are raiding their parents or grandparents stashes or heirlooms collected by some older folks, and not realizing what they're spending. "It's just money."

The checker said she's been seeing those and 5 dollar bills with red seals. Her boss told her to pull them and trade out for normal worthless script.

I told her to save them for me, and that I'd make it worth her trouble. She agreed. I should be getting a phone call any day.

1/3 of 1/10 = 33.333% (therefore)
33.333% of $3.75 = $1.25

Have been seeing a good number of $2 US NOTE Silver certificates floating around lately, indeed someone is raiding Grand pas cigar box, or cut open grand ma's mattress.

Sorry, its been a long time since you could cash in silver certificates. Now they are worth only slightly more then face value unless it is in excellent condition.

Novelty factor. Adds at least a whole quarter to the value.

interesting the current value of the silver coinage has kept pace about a zillion times better than the paper.

no idiot. Its one dollars worth in 1957, which was one ounce. that would be worth your entire 37.50. so they netted 36.50.

Just traded in my silver certificates at a coin shop for a little over face value.

A 1964 law made them not worth actual silver, only of value to collectors or in zombie apocalypse when government has to turn to silver as cash, and then if there is a zombie apocalypse there will be bigger things to worry about and good luck finding a bank that will give you actual silver.
