Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1285234[link to www.tcpalm.com] Gov. Rick Scott's proposed budget sets the tone for top-to-bottom cuts in 2011, from scaling back public pensions and education, to privatizing correctional facilities and merging a number of state departments. Under Scott's plans for education funding, Treasure Coast districts would receive 8 to 10 percent less money per-student, and schools statewide would see at least $3.3 billion less from the state than this year. Scott's budget would lower corporate income tax from 5 to 3.3 percent by January 2012 Organizations that provide local "safety net" services — basic needs programs for the poor, elderly, youth and other at-risk groups — are feeling pressures of potential cuts from the state.Negron, chair of the Senate's Health and Human Services Appropriations subcommittee, has called for $1.5 billion in cuts from his committee's budget. Florida is about to get fucked up the ass. Well they could do like wisconsin raise the taxes so high that companies left the state. Then their tax base got worse yet. When you lower it like this there is a bit of short fall but soon the state will rake in more taxes from increases in companies in the state. |

When business sores tax revenue increases the people make money and to does the state. Something they do not teach you young people in school. Less government, less taxes, mean good economy. |

Sure our public servants will be upset/and likely try to protest, however if they like, go get another job in the private sector. Working for the public sucks and they knew that before going into that field. We are not slaves.... The fact is, our states/federal government have been paying out more than they have been taking in for years. This is because of excessive programs, and pay to employees and to social programs that need end. Its time our government learned to tighten the purse strings. quit listening to the unions and politicians that act as though you are a slave to your job. Our politicians should not be fighting each other for or against cuts... they should all be suggesting cuts, rather than politicizing this debt. WE HAVE NO MORE MONEY.... when will people learn this? |

Guess what, it's time for cuts across the board. |

So good. Give the corps an opportunity to start hiring and expanding in the state. Meanwhile, the educators will cry "foul" and whine because they don't have any more "free" money. If edcuation was run run like a business, you probably wouldn't see these problems. |

Less government, less taxes, mean good economy. Why do you hate poor people? It's obvious that you're old, because you haven't kept up with modern economic teachings. - When taxes are raised, the magic tax fairy creates mountains of wealth that gets distributed to those in need. The money doesn't come from anywhere else. - Businesses love paying high taxes, because the money subsidizes the lifestyles of people who don't work, thus empowering those people to consume business goods and services. This expands the market for the business, which improves the economy. - Businesses don't create jobs. Jobs are created because of consumer demand, which is based on consumer need. Raising taxes so people have less money to spend makes them needier, which increases demand, creates jobs and improves the economy. - Jobs are only needed to keep people out of prison. When you raise taxes, you have more money to fund prisons, thus no need for jobs. |

One other thing, in Phila they have opened many charter schools, why? Because a charter school is privately run and therefore doesn't have the waste that a large beaurocracy like the school district has. The School district spends 17k per student, the charter schools receive 10k per student, yet the interest is so great they have to hold lotterys. |

It's run by a bunch of bleeding heart Liberals that would rather teach kids about lesbianism in kindergarten rather than how to balance a checkbook. I was a Republican teacher at a public education school for many years, and the Dems were so belittling to me that I left and moved away. They HATED a Christian Repub teacher in there questioning why we weren't teaching basic skills to the kids but instead showing "Mommie loves Mommie" videos to young kids. |
