US Mint Suspends Minting Of 2011 Silver Eagle Coins

As what has been reported on Patriot News Radio, the United States Mint has suspended the minting of their American Silver Eagles uncirculated coins for the past two years and they will extend that policy into the year of 2011.

The Mint has confirmed that they will still produce proofs of the Silver Eagles due to the fact that numismatic coins in the United States have seen a huge increase in value.

The strong demand for silver has pushed the purchase of the US American Silver Eagle coin to 6.5 million during the month of January 2011 which is noted as being 50 percent higher than any other single month since the US Mint has been official records on the sale of coins.

The trend carried over into the month of February as the month went down as the seventh biggest in the history of sales.

2011 will definitely be another year that the Silver Eagles uncirculated coin will not be produced due mainly to the high demand that has been shown. It is being said that the 6.5 million Silver Eagles that were minted during January 2011 accounts for 20 percent of the total silver mine supply in the country. If that trend carries on into the summer of 2011, the American silver mine supply could be depleted.

It is a very touch subject as it is required by law that silver bullion and silver coins be produced in the United States as long as the demand is still there. The shortage of silver will definitely send the price of the remaining Silver Eagles skyrocketing. The price of silver an ounce is an at all time high thus making the American Silver Eagle Coins a very hot commodity.
