AR1670 was decaying before it went beyond the limb. I think you're looking at the massive plage region which was remnants of megaspot 1654. I was closely watching that regions return (2 weeks ago) because it was so bright on the EUVI images and when it came over there wasn't much left in the way of spots. I have no problem with geophysics but heliophysics and solar tech aren't natural to me , so I have to work extra hard. Maybe thats why I love it so much. Thanks for your insight! There was also just an Earth-facing filament liftoff in the north. You night watch folks stay alert for a CME, O.K.? [link to halpha.nso.edu] There a fantastic giant solar tornado on the NW limb (at 1 o'clock approx.). I can't do helioviewer so you should go watch the SDO movies...it's quite beautiful.
