NOAA Solar Activity Update-

.24 hr Summary..
Solar activity was at low levels. Regions 1861 (S10E22, Eac/beta-gamma)
and 1865 (S22E45, Dai/beta-gamma-delta) were both responsible for
multiple low level C-flares. Moderate growth was observed in Region
1861. Region 1861 appeared to develop more magnetic complexity through
the period. Region 1865 appeared relatively stable, however it still
retains a delta in its much larger leader spot. No Earth-directed
coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed during the period.

I still think that 1865 has a reversed polarity. If you zoom in on the hi-res magnetogram, it looks like a mirror image of its next-door neighbor 1864. Beyond that, I think 1861 is almost twice the size of '65 now.

Hi all. Jeeze I am still getting bombarded with messages and emails about some kind of asteroid or commet event that is supposed to happen soon and cause a U.S. east coast tsunami. I know I mentioned it several days ago, but has anyone else heard anything about this?
Hugh I know you said it was just nonsense but where in the heck is this coming from? I usually can just ignore all this kind of stuff but I am embarrassed to admit that it is starting to set my nerves on edge.
I know I'm making myself sound a bit wacky by bringing this up again, but I'd really be interested if anyone else has heard this. And I like and trust you guys here. I'm about to get caught up on the posts I've missed since early yesterday. I doubt if there has been any discussion about this on this thread, but if there has been, I apologize for this post. The problem with now is things are occurring at an unprecedented scale, and frequency that seems to be accelerating/ intensifying. It could be that there is more access to data ... yet those that have experience with the math are finding anomalies that make little sense, pattern compared to the historical one they have witnessed. This pattern is unique in all regards... And intensifying... Strange days) even the shills are finding it difficult outside the herd,

Is it possible that the coronal hole can damage our magnetosphere and then just any x-flare will complete the work of destruction?

I doubt it...

for clarity, I'm talking about a situation where the worst case scenario is burnt transistors and cut off from electricity for at least half of the world

Well.... That would take one hell of a CME. Maybe a repeat of the Carrington Event could cause trouble.

It's the limb of the sun, loops from a filament/prominence as Nasa was watching for a CME with their new toy IRIS

the CME is from a region that is just over the north east limb
nothing coming from that region will be earth directed today
but we for sure will be watching this region as it rotates into a earth facing direction over this next week
