SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily) | |
Helios Maximus User ID: 74772411 United States 08/09/2018 11:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | RED ALERT- This could be the BEST Perseid Meteor shower in many years. If you have the chance, go camping in a dark location this weekend. The peak is predicted for Sunday night/Monday morning- but late Saturday night should be awesome as well. "Great Show" predicted for Perseid meteor peak on August 12-13 The Perseid meteor shower, an annual celestial event beloved by millions of skywatchers around the world, is about to make its annual return to the night sky. And thanks to a new Moon, there'll be no bright moonlight to hinder the view. Sky and Telescope magazine predicts that this year's Perseid shower will reach its peak on Sunday night, August 12th, and early morning on the 13th. You will also see some Perseids, though fewer in number, for several nights before and after that date. "The moonless sky this year means the viewing will be excellent, and the shower's predicted peak is timed especially well for North America," notes Diana Hannikainen (pronounced huhn-ih-KY-nen), Sky and Telescope's Observing Editor. "Under a very dark sky, you might see up to one Perseid per minute late on Sunday night or after midnight on Monday morning." This time lapse shows that full run from two of SDO's instruments. The large orange sun is visible light captured by the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager, or HMI. The smaller golden sun is extreme ultraviolet light from the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly, or AIA, and reveals some of the sun's atmosphere, the corona. Both appear at one frame every 12 hours. SDO's nearly unbroken run is now long enough to watch the rise and fall of the current solar cycle. The graph of solar activity shows the sunspot number, a measurement based on the number of individual spots and the number of sunspot groups. In this case, the line represents a smoothed 26-day average to more clearly show the overall trend. Credit: NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center/SDO [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] WOW, that's an awesome video. It's hard to believe I had an intimate relationship with half of those sunspots, LOL. Simple27 User ID: 76580724 United States 08/10/2018 11:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This weekend NASA launches its newest mission, the Parker Solar Probe. The craft is destined to go, if not directly into the sun, at least closer to our local star than any spacecraft before. On its seven-year mission, the craft will whip through the sun’s sizzling outer atmosphere, or corona, swooping to within 4 million miles (6.4 million km) of the sun’s surface. Set to launch on August 11, 2018, this craft will face heat and radiation like no spacecraft before it. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] ****Thanks for all of the links you shared on this Hugh!!! I have a few theories of my own to do with this whole scenario. Interestingly enough, one of which ties back years to something an ex of mine (who is an Army Veteran) sorta told me and sorta provided legitimate proof to. Which also ties into chemtrails. There's a damn good reason they're trying to study the Sun, as closely as they can possibly get to it. Crazy times. Stay alert friends. ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
