Update Sunspots and resume: Three C1 class solar flares took place yesterday, all from different locations.. Region 1313 which is the most interesting group visible increased in size yesterday Further C class and just the chance of a M class solar flare is possible over the coming days. A large 'active region' is about two days away before rotating into view over the north-east limb :newstereobehind: Image from Stereo Behind shows you this active Region Is that the region that blew that HUGE CME a few days ago, on the far side?? |

It’s emitting the highest-energy gamma rays ever observed from a pulsar – a highly magnetized and rapidly spinning neutron star – at more than 100 billion electron volts. That’s more than 50 billion times more energy than the visible light from the Sun. “This is the highest energy pulsar system ever detected,” said Rene Ong, a UCLA professor of physics and astronomy and spokesperson for the VERITAS collaboration at the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. “It is a completely new and surprising phenomenon for pulsars.” All previous observations of pulsars have indicated that the radiation cuts off at the high energies the team observed. “It means the radiation we detect must be a new component that was completely unexpected,” says Ong. The Crab Pulsar spins at about 30 times a second, emitting gamma rays through ‘curvature radiation’, an effect that creates a lighthouse-like beacon that winks on and off. When the gamma rays reach Earth, they smash into our atmosphere, causing what Ong describes as the electromagnetic equivalent of a sonic boom. The full story is here: [link to theextinctionprotocol.wordpress.com] Crab Pulsar's high-energy beam surprises astronomers Quoting: aether Astronomers have spotted gamma ray emissions coming from the Crab Pulsar at far higher energies than expected. Quoting: scienceThis challenges notions of how these powerful electromagnetic rays - like light, but far more energetic - are formed, researchers suggest in Science. ... But earlier this year, the Crab was spotted emitting gamma-ray flares that have confounded astronomers. ... "These are much, much higher energies than had been previously thought can come from a pulsar," Dr Otte said. He said that there is something missing in our models of the "cosmic particle accelerators" that give rise to the gamma rays; they must arise from much further out in the magnetic fields of the pulsars. "It's a very radical change to the picture of how we believe gamma-ray emission comes from pulsars," he said. [link to www.bbc.co.uk] Surprised, confounded but unrepentant Quoting: observationThey did get one thing right, there is something missing from their models. It is called electricity! Quoting: observationFaraday strikes again. Quoting: observation[link to www.glebedigital.co.uk] It's surprising they did not predict the high energy beam. Their own theories posit a neutron star at the center of the nebula. So they have a massively dense object with an insanely high gravitational field at its surface. Around it they observe a plasma (even if they call it a cloud of ionized gas). And they have peer reviewed journal articles (like "On the Global Electrostatic Charge of Stars) saying that a strong gravitational field should induce a strong electric field in a plasma. Therefore, even without reading EU theory, they should have been able to posit high energy radiation coming from the Crab Pulsar. Quoting: observationThis is important for us to remember as well: While the Crab Nebula may well be a Faraday motor, we don't need to get that complicated to explain high energy radiation. Any massive, compact object in a surrounding plasma should be a source of high energy cosmic rays. |

aether User ID: 1412926 United Kingdom 10/08/2011 07:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dwarf galaxies suggest dark matter theory may be wrong 16th Sept 2011 The existence of the particles has not yet been proven, as they are extremely difficult to detect - they cannot be "seen" in the traditional sense, and if they exist, they interact only very rarely with the matter we know . Quoting: science[link to www.bbc.co.uk] So not only is the existence of dark matter, whether cold or warm, yet to be proved, but its particles "interact only very rarely with the matter we know." And this is the stuff that shapes galaxies? Quoting: observationYes, the very rarely is exactly when they need it to and then not when they don't want it to. But one would find it difficult to believe that Dark Matter is needed to shape galaxies, yet then it rarely interacts with normal matter. Dark Energy was invented to counteract the Dark Matter so the universe could still expand, but if it has so much influence it would keep the universe from expanding without the action of another force, that just doesn't seem like "rarely" to me. Quoting: observationfrom the article: "That is consistent with the idea that as our Solar System moves through the dark matter halo surrounding our Galaxy, the Earth is sometimes moving with and sometimes against this current of dark matter." Quoting: observationHow do they fking know this based on completely undetectable and unobservable "matter?" And they see a "dark matter halo" ?? Oh? They know that is a real structure? They can define a halo image from dark matter? You realise it's all in their heads, right? You've identified my pet hate with this sort of science reporting: statement of theory as fact or ignorance of the assumption that defines what an assumption is.
