How does the pope have the power to do this? Confession? Only GOD himself can forgive sins...not man on earth.

Catholics never had a successful reformation. 1560 Trent was a reactionary council that made extra curricular (non scriptural) spurious beliefs even worse. Why would Christ save any sheep outside the fold unless RC Catholics totally screwed up? Mark Twain's Joan of Arc should tell you that Catholic men have been XXX since the introduction of the rosary.
